Plenty of other Ishgardians sacrificed everything for their nation.Given the fact that Francel is in charge of the reconstruction and reveres our mutual friend just as much, there is actually precedent for this to happen.I
The playerbase has been given many chances to champion our good friend, but having an actual monument for the people of Ishgard would be highly appreciated. This was a man with no true last name, but sacrificed all for his nation. I can think of no greater honor, and none who deserve it more. Truly a shining example of the struggles of Ishgard, even if they can only be recognized posthumously.
Haurchefant shouldn't be placed above them just because he was a friend of the Warrior of Light and Francel. He already has a grave/monument present in the game world that can be visited.
He only died in the first place due to Aymeric's stupid decision to run off on his own, which is conveniently ignored to grant the protagonists plot armour against any meaningful and lasting criticism. The only Ishgardians who should be honoured with a statue are those who laid down their lives for the sake of a lie and who received very little fanfare for their sacrifice. That'd go a long way towards helping the nation heal rather than having it fawn over one of the most overrated characters to ever exist in a Final Fantasy title.

Agreed with the above.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
But Hades already has statues in his honor in Garlemald. Does he really need another in Ishgard?
I love Our Boy almost more than the next person, but even I think it'd cheapen his overall impact if he got another memorial. A general memorial to the fallen would be nice, and possibly a larger, more ornate version of the Hresvelgr and Shiva statue to commemorate the peace? Or even making that a furnishing for our own housing.
We've been given a lot of ways for the WoL to show their grief, mourning, and eventual acceptance of losing Haurchefant. Francel, too, would probably agree that he wouldn't want some statue of his likeness when there were so many other Ishgardians putting their lives down for their country, for the hopes and dreams and futures of their people. I think I'd be disappointed if they let the 'fanservice' aspect of Haurchefant's popularity win in this case, honestly.
A general monument to those we have lost would be more fitting than a personal tribute to the WoL's BFF, as much as we miss him.
Are you all really okay with spoiling new-ish players, should it all play out that way? Because it's a legit concern of mine if the Firmament turns into a Housing Ward, and I don't see it brought up.
Sure, it would be nice to hone certain characters, but not at the cost of ruining the experience of others.
Theodric and some others brought up a really good alternative - a general monument of all the Ishgardians that lost/gave their lives sounds promising.
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
Could just be something they don't see until they reach a certain point in the MSQ. That tech has been used before, right? Are you all really okay with spoiling new-ish players, should it all play out that way? The Firmament needs stripper poles.
