May be easier on other platforms. I see people bend all the rules on Twitter, but yea I imagine walk-ups in-game would handle homebrew with a lot less enthusiasm.

We all play through the MSQ though, so I think its interesting to see what parts of the story people really lean into for their WoL, or adapt differently. Like my WoL is from Ishgard - which changes a lot of how the Heavensward campaign went for him and how he interacted with some of those characters since he wasn't going there for the first time but returning years after having "run away". I also don't really do the whole soulstone thing.. he's got a busted DRK one but he doesn't use it. He just punches stuff really well and leans heavily on the Scions for help; being the WoL (and also an extremely impulsive and caring person) is what gives that needed edge to get things done. He's kinda just here for the ride.

I just want to pick on this because you might be confusing conjury with white magic.

White magic is the more powerful version, banned from being practised by anyone except the Padjals (and a certain chosen adventurer), but conjury is common healing magic and is really widespread - most 'human' enemies will have a conjurer type amongst the group, and even non-healers may still cast Cure spells. There's also a levequest description that mentions giving basic conjury training to (I think) all the children in Gridania - it seems to be the magical equivalent of first aid.

It's cast by incantation of spells, although the power depends on the caster's skill, so it might be possible that anyone who knows the right words might be able to speak them and produce some degree of effect.

That's not to say that there isn't a place for alchemical substitutes for healing magic, but conjury isn't as limited as you might be thinking it is.

(Also, on having a female character but using a male character-model... There's at least one canon instance of that being done for an NPC, so you're not alone there.)

Alcyone has a desperate need to prove herself in battle, and left her clan because she wants to be part of something bigger than the petty tribal squabbles she was used to back home.

She hates the smell of lavender.

She once ate an entire stick of butter on a dare.

Alcyone lived in a tree house for a year.

She is very short even by Auri standards, and she's self-conscious of her stature. She makes an effort to look extra intimidating by using war paint to emphasize her eyes.

She has a thing for Miqo’te guys with fluffy tails.

    Alcyone forgot about Dre.

Cilantro tastes like soap to her.

Although she normally speaks common Eorzean in her day-to-day life, Alcyone still prefers to count and do math in her native Auri.

She chose the last name "Tungsten" for herself on the day she left her clan because it was the toughest material she could think of on the spur of the moment.

    Her favorite color is red.

Alcyone has a knack for always picking the perfect sized bowl to keep leftovers in.

She always remembers faces but is terrible with names. She still isn't sure which one is Alphinaud and which is Alisaie.

She worked one summer giving henna tattoos at the beach.

Alcyone dreams of becoming a stand-up comic one day, but has a terrible fear of public speaking.

She plans on opening an arts and crafts shop when she retires from adventuring.

Oh I know the difference between white magic and conjury. I've leveled, read and played CNJ/WHM on multiple characters for fun and own both lore books. My observation is primarily based on the visual fact that where you can find legions of people ready to lift a sword, spear or a pair of knuckles, the amount of combat ready/experienced conjurers that won't immediately get gobsmacked across the field are limited and more often at higher concentrations within the Twin Adder forces for obvious reasons as compared to Ul'dah in general.

Also, I realize you're trying to help (and I thank you for the attempt) but this type of nitpicking is the exact reason why I don't RP in this game and keep my ideas and imagination to myself.

I got the idea from a super interesting D&D x FFXIV homebrew that had Alchemist as a combat class and I fell in love with it. Mimihi originally was a simple alchemist with unorthodox ideas trying to convince people to dispatch more alchemists to the field in the case where conjurers are unavailable (since, tbh, people with conjurer affinity aren't exactly wide spread). Just after seeing what happened in Ul'dah five years ago and how awful it was that she didn't really have the strength to do anything outside of the city like actual adventurers and such, she just kinda worked hard to change that in herself. Creating small things like quick salves, poison bombs, paralysis traps, flash grenades and other sorts of things that can be deployed in combat from a someone working as support.

I don't really RP due to being on a non-RP server and I know a lot of this bends canon, but I keep it in my mind as true to my character's story haha. She's a bit of a fire cracker.

And yes I realize my potate had a sex change bc I prefer the male lalafell emotes, but she'll always be Mimihi Mihi, the very tiny and aggressive potion slinging alchemist with a passion for... "cooking". But honestly if I could bring this little story to life without being shunned by FFXIV's RP community I so would.
Why would you get shunned for that?

    ---

I'm just your friendly neighborhood catgirl who always seems to be in the wrong place at the right time. It's not really a roleplay thing, it's more a transgirl thing of living a virtual life that I can't really live for reasons I don't care to embellish on. What little backstory I put into Staribbon is that she was an orphan in Kugane who doesn't know who her parents are. She did odd jobs around the city, laundry, stocking shelves, hawking wares, pretty much whatever she could do for a bit of coin. She took up arcanum and was a natural at it, eventually she bought a ticket to Limsa to hone her craft and suddenly found an amazing gift for being in the wrong place at the right time. In all fairness she'd rather not be the savior of the world and is more than a bit snarky about it, but it keeps her cute clothes and pastries and she's never want for a place to sleep.

I guess her lifestyle hasn't changed much. XD

Hmm, background story, at the time I created my Character Merridyll, starting in Gridania as a Bard originally and having played it through as Bard as well, I thought up in my mind something like this:

Merridyll per see is a rather untypical Miqo'te, having being not grown up among other Miqo't, but being grown up n raised by a Hyur familiy that likes alot the nature, music, animals and weapons xD, because her hyur "father" was a gridanian Bard from which she learned the love for nature, animals and music, until he retired, died on an illness a few years later and gave her his bow as his legacy further to her. Thats also why she has a normal name that sound like that of a Hyur and not of a Miqo'te, because the Cailleach's raised little Merridyll as if it were their own child.
Her "mother" was a strong and ironwilled woman with a weakness for all kinds of weapons, she worked as blacksmith, but was also a good Paladin in Ul'dah, before she got to know n love her father which once traveled as Bard from Gridania to Ul'Dah, because he needed something from there, that was at that time basically unreceivable in Gridania. And he found there so much more, the love of his life, when Merridylls mother saved him from being attacks by bandits on the way back home to Gridania.

The married, but sadly she got wounded somewhen later on her defense duties as a Paladin and was unable from that moment on to give self birth to children,, that was the time when her mother retired as Paladin to travel together with her husband to Gridania n live there together.
Merridyll was an orphan child that got adopted by the Cailleachs that had such a strong wish to become paren't but couldn't due to giving birth being too much of a risk for the life of her mother that the old would could lead to dangerous complications.

Years passed away, Merridyll had a wonderful childhood with parents that treated her like their beloved gold apple, always caring, while her father teached her everything she needs to know and to survive in the nature, while her mother teached her with her passion for weapons, how to effectively defend herself with them, how to craft them and keep them always sharp n ready for combat.

Many more years passed, Merridyll, by know an grown up Miqo'te started her own journey to get to see the world and travel as a Bard from town to town, like her father did in his youth time when he was of her age now and how he always told her in his sleeptime memories, when he spoke of his travels full of myst, fantasies, music and adventures as a kind of hero presented, when in fact being not a hero at all, but that are fairytales, there to make little girls sleep and dream of wonderlands and all sorts of miracles little pixies come up for them for dreams to dream.

When Merridyll got picked up by a merchant with his chocobos, he offered her a free ride to Uldah basically just to have for that time some free music in return n somebody to talk with to make the travel less boring.

He asked Merridyll a thing, that she'll never forget: What is your biggest wish?

Merridyll answered - To become one day famous.

Never would she have ever thought that this wish would become one day relatively soon true in her wildest imaginations by becoming a Warrior of Light that got chosen out by Hydaelin and getting to know so quickly great new friends with Y'shtolah, that she views like an elder wise sister n best girlfriend practically at the same time, or Lyse, which always rembers her on the calm n lovely attitude of her mother, or Thancred, like the protective brother she ever liked to have to play with.

Then came dark times, Merridyll's mother got killed by a dragon she learned stood under command of a much much greater evil, known as Nidhogg.
Merridyll traveled to Ishgard... and we all know what happened there. Merridyll will be sung for the next thousand years to come as heroic dragonslayer, which saved Ishgar from the Wrath of Nidhogg, by getting self revenge for her mother, because of being just at a wrong time at the wrong place stirring up the hatred of a dragon which seemed to remember it on an ancient warrioress of the past who had slain that dragon's family, thinking this woman is some kind ofs offspring's offspring's offspring, a descendant so to say from that warrioress, which caused the dragon to go mad n cause destruction, leading to the death of Merridyll's mother.

After this, Merridyll found as a Warrior of Light with Zenos a new enemy and rival, whose first confrontation lead nearly to Merridyll losing her life, if not a new found dear friend that helped her to revenge her mother - Estinien saved her life on last second, while she was self unconscious by the tries of an outer unfathomable source of power, which tried consequently to draw her body and soul to another world.

Selfreflected by her loss and seeing in, that the Merridyll she was up to that point was too weak and with her skills and talents no match for Zenos, she decided to travel to Othard and become stronger there, learn new cultured and techniques in hope that this will make her stronger as warrior of Light, getting to learn the culture of othardian Ninja, Samurai and ultimatively with Lyse as Mentor of Monks too as well.

Impressed by the culture and how good of a fight she had with Lyse, Merridyll decided to become a Monk, making her mom proud by showing, that she can defend herself better the next time she mets on Zenos, repaying him everything twice, this time with her Fists, ehrm, Cat Claws xD instead of her Bow, being a much more faster combatant, than ever before.
It was with her like a transformation from a little nature loving kitten into a fast n furious grown wild clawed whirling war tigress that made with Zenos basically short process when they met each other the next time again, even with the help of the powers from the dragon Shinryu, Merridyll surpassed on that day her own limits and saved with her actions Ala Mhigo.

From this day on, she stayed Monk and rumors tell of this heroic Warrior of Light, that she visited even already other distant worlds to save them with her furious Cat Claws

I'm not an active RP'ler but I still have invented some sort of backstory of my own for my character. I know it's all just in my head but it was fun to piece it together during the patches and also seeing it evolve as the story unfolds

Via pyr Ramia was originally a garlean spy and a member of the VIth legoin by the rather low rank of Optio. She came to Eorzea to secretly watch over the happenings of the land and was to report everything she got to know to her superiors, but things didn't really work out as planned.

First she thought meeting the scions was lucky, since she was able to optain critical information, but after learning that Hydaelyn chose her as a warrior of light things began to change. She started to question her loyalty to the empire, not agreeing to every move they made in order to conquer Eorzea anymore. Still, she had some of her patriotism left, which made her very critical and at times hard to work with and also is a source of her at times angry and cold mannerisms.

During the happenings of Heavensward, she even decided to get married and changed her Garlean Surname to another. Still, meeting with Varis and Regula in the sea of clouds was not easy for her, as she started to be conflicted with her own beliefs again. However, it wasn't until after saving Ishgard and going to Doma and Ala Mhigo when she finally made up her mind that Garlemald needed to change. Batteling Zenos, seeing Tsuyus fate unfold and learning about the Black Rose and the Ascians involvement in the political situation of Garlemald fueled her fire to fight for a change.

Yet even to this day, Via dearly misses her home, even though she sometimes feels it would be wrong to tell anybody as Garlemald is still seen as the source of all evil by many. I hope she can return where she belongs in 6.0 and settle things with her home country, as fighting it is heartbreaking for her at the very least.

I don't rp so when I'm online she's just me, but in her "free" time she's an Immortal Flames officer tasked with looking into a string of grisly murders.
