I think it looks super dumb on my friend's guy. Same. I wish they had a few (a lot) more western hairstyles for males. Shorter, and medium length.
Unfortunately males (at least male hyur) would need more quality faces, but that's another issue entirely.

I don't think they have that big of a problem with Vieras head model. But Hrothgar in the other hand might have some problems and due to that they won't release anything for Viera until that's figured out. Then again I don't even know if they ever change hrothgars way of having hair stuck to the head might give that away if they don't change it. Would be weird if they let it be like that and not give them any exclusive hairstyles, because then theyd have to release a new face for them so I don't know... So many bad decisions from their end.
I do hope they are working on it though. When the time comes, I will be changing back to Viera.

I feel there's a small group of passionate developers that work on XIV. Some aspects of the game are so well thought out and yet others...not so much. I just looks like a team that loves what they do but lack the time and people to achieve what they want. The part where a small team went and I think on their own time made sure some of the gear fit both new races reinforces this thought. I mean I have no idea, I'm not a dev and I don't work for SE but it just looks like some projects I have been on where similar things happen.
Don't touch me there
What always gets me is that Au Ra never suffered with any of this. I'm sorry, but if you're going to release a new race (or two), I feel like you should be able to fully support them and not suddenly seem incapable of fitting new hairstyles or headgear to the race. Yes, it takes time and effort - but so does releasing anything new in your game. They feel so half-baked. ._.I feel there's a small group of passionate developers that work on XIV. Oh, I totally agree! I didn't want to get too far into it but I think by doing what they're doing...um..if they're doin that, they're shootin themselves in the foot! I mean I appreciate the effort and the results when they come through. It's stuff like this that worries me XIV will suffer the same fate as so many other great games: Death by Corporate GreedWhat always gets me is that Au Ra never suffered with any of this. But instead they clip right through like it's nothing, very few exceptions to this.
SE doesn't put a priority on things like this. They did away with racial concerns for the ARR launch. If this was still 1.0's design philosophy, we'd all have fitting attire and hairstyle options. ...and probably 40 ring slots.

I really don't remember much of the pre-release Au Ra details, but ear holes would have been nice. I've always loved the few hats/helmets that have molded ears or ear-holes for miqo.Auri helmets were promised horn holes and adjustments.

There are also a lot of hats that just hide the ears entirely. Wonder if they're planning to at least bring those to Viera/Hroth even if they don't plan to touch most of the others.
I do wonder if the reason they're not adding things to Viera is because it's far more difficult to implement on the Hroth, and they just don't want to deal with the outrage if one race gets something and the other doesn't.

I mean, wasn't it somewhat clearly a rush job putting out a race that everyone was clamoring for? Maybe devs had a good reason for not wanting to create this in the first place.
