Storyline and the world of Eorzea

I did not know what tag to put on this but obviously it's something that needs to be addressed. It's incredible how much in terms of story does the world actually lack. I've done almost all the missions and it still just feels like running around with random NPCs fighting a threat that does not appear anywhere else but cut scenes.
Nations seem to be anonymous, what is their relations with each other? Is there a Emperor of Ul'dah? President of Limsa? There seems to be no actual structure of power within this world.

its the start of an mmo. Most story based mmo start out slow. Once the devs fix the battle the threat hinted will appear. Atm if you read the book, Eorzea is in the age of calm transitioning into the age of adventure. Where the armies are bored and just doing bounty runs just incase the threat becomes realm. Most launch mmo start out slow. If they give you too much to soon you would quit after racing through it.

Just from the opening movie (in start menu) brings many questions to what is going on. Looks like a huge war between one faction against what seems to be dragons.

After the ship goes down a the bright light looks like it released Ifirit, Titan.. makes me wonder if this is like FF6 where the so called bad guys are collecting "Espers"... or maybe the Huge dragon was a vessel holding the "Primals" which seem to be gods for the beastmen around the land, Maybe this Empire is not the Evil we think it is. maybe they are fighting an even greater evil.

Ishgard from tales by NPC in towns around the world seems to be more directed towards an evil. There is a lot of mentioning of a Bishop controlling that castle, also tales directed towards the dragons. people being carried off by guards. These are in the remote parts of the world. This all plays a role in the story.

I personally feel there is a lot for us to look forward to in the story line, just from the opening movie. we start out as simple players picking Leves. that turn into a great adventure. Then get caught up in a epic battle between two forces, maybe we will need to choose sides. learn stronger classes, technology.

This may be just my mind running with possibilities. who knows. <shrug> so far it has my attention which is hard to get.
