Going from my assumptions from a previous poll post:

    My Assumptions:
    1) Jobs (or really any additions) are chosen based on what will sell the expansion/get fans excited. $$$
    2) Job choices are not forced to fill missing "gaps" in roles. (4 magical ranged including BLU before a 3rd physical ranged)
    3) The way roles are organized is fluid. (It used to just be Melee DPS and Ranged DPS)
    4) New jobs can be influenced by the place we're going. but this is not a requirement. (YoshiP was originally planning to do SAM in HW)

    Job History
2.0: 2 Tanks, 2 Healers, 2 Melee DPS, 3 Ranged DPS (Initial Release)
2.x:+1 Melee(NIN), (Balance of 3 Melee and 3 Ranged DPS)
    3.0: +1 Tank(DRK), +1 Ranged(MCH), +1 Healer(AST)
………also, (Ranged "split" to Magical Ranged and Physical Ranged)
    4.0: +1 Magical Ranged(RDM), +1 Melee(SAM)
4.x: +1 Magic Ranged (Can be ignored, it's BLU)
    5.0: +1 Physical Ranged(DNC), +1 Tank(GNB)

    My Guess
A healer and melee DPS as second; Possible magical ranged instead, but I'd bet on melee.
With the confirmed Reaper and Sage, we now have:

    6.0 +1 Melee DPS(RPR?), +1 Healer (SAG?)

This gives us a total of:
    4 Tanks
    4 Healers
    5 Melee DPS (2 Maiming, 2 Striking, 1 Scouting)
    3 Ranged Physical DPS
3 Ranged Magic DPS (4 with Blu)

On that, my guess is for near expansions, we will see another melee DPS using the Scouting line of gear, possibly a further division of melee (probably by armor type?).

I also anticipate there will be an expansion with only 1 or no additional jobs at all in the next expansion or two.

Finally, I think their ultimate goal will be no more than 3 of a specific slot or armor type, unless there is a really obvious fit/demand (so no more than 3 shield-type healers)

    ….

Now if we are just going on personal hopes/dreams: Rune Knight and some kinda dual-crossbody wielding Ranger are my pics

    Agreed on Scouting.
    However, they also said that
    1) They want to add at least one DPS per expansion
    2) New jobs are the main selling point of expansions (the reaper and sage trailer have almost 1M views each on youtube. For reference, Male Viera is at 300k.)

So I think they will stick to 2 jobs per expansion for a while, as long as the game remain successful. Otherwise we would never get a tank or a healer anymore.
What I am wondering though, is if they will continue changing all the jobs in each expansion and keep adding more skills etc. I actually think they might stop doing that when we reach level 99.
I mean, of course they will need to do adjustments to each job on each expansion due to battle mechanics changes. But adding new skills and reworking the whole rotation and toolkit of each job in every expansion is an unnecessary timesink at this point in my opinion.
Just pick a handful of jobs to change every few years instead based on player feedback. Don't take the risk breaking something that is loved if it is not needed or asked for.

    Makes sense to me.

Assuming the game makes it to 9.0 (3 more expansions, 6 more jobs), I absolutely would expect 4 of those to be some kinda dps, most likely making the melee dps each have 3 per armor type.

...but I still think we'll hit a point where they just don't add a job, or only add one for an expansion.

There are a few options. You could have the Knight design spells by hitting the target and placing/carving runes on or around them. You could have a weapon like a wand, chains, bladed staff, dual wield a Saber to draw/cut runes and a Parrying Dagger to ignite/initiate the spells. Maybe even a large hammer that acts as you "activation stamp" when you finish building your runes like your SEAL OF APPROVAL on casting it. The weapon isn't particularly as important as the mechanics themselves are.

As for me personally I would want a class called an "Eikonoclast" which would be a play on Iconoclast, defined as "a person who attacks cherished beliefs or institutions," or "a destroyer of images used in religious worship." I would have this classes weapons be some variety of two weapons since dual wield is a rare thing atm. These weapons are used to attack and channel their power. They would draw power from Eikons. It would somewhat similar to blue mage except instead of just copying the skills of monsters it would have skills similar to that Eikon such as fire punches or strikes like Ifrit, slamming the ground like Titan, doing the deadly ice slash from Shiva in sword form, etc.

Start the fight with your gap closer, Garuda's Gust. Start your basic attack combo whack whack building up a resource with each attack. Then after a little bit is generated like say 3 or 4 resources you get the option to use a lower tier Eikonic skill like say Ifrit's Impulse or Titan's Trample or Shiva's Sanctum. After you use one of these you get a Rune on a gauge. After you do a few of these and build up 4-5 runes they can be expended in any number of ways using more advanced moves like Shinryu's Shatter, Bahamut's Burn, or Hade's Hadouken. Each of the Tiers of special skills share a short CD so you can weave in a standard combo attack or two between them and you alternate using Eikonic skills of the same tier. That way you are always moving and always looking cool mixing stuff in. After spending all the higher tier skills on the runes then you get access to the big boys move Hydaelyn's Hammer. This big skill activates all of your eikonic powers and lets you choose a couple lower tier and mid teir ones that are enhanced with different effects. Then the cycle starts over again.

I know this may sound whole heartedly retarded for a design but this is the kind of class I would really want. I think of it as a melee-trance type class with a little from monk, what summoner could have been, and then adding its own personality through its animations and different type of weapon. Maybe give it a Saber and a Parrying Dagger, kind of like a Corsair-ish feel. A very cocky type of class feel due to taking and mastering the power of Eikons for themselves. Thank you for anyone who has read this far and to the people who won't eat me alive

At this point there aren't really any new jobs/classes that I want.

But rather, weapon types. I'd love to get a whip sword like Sven from Type 0 uses for example. Or Ivy from Soul Calibur as another example.

I wouldn't mind a crossbow class either if they come up with another ranged physical job that's distinct enough from bard/mch/dnc.

A real Bard. Bard is like 90% archer. I know some want a pure archer or maybe a ranger. So split it.

    Also Freelancer or Bare.

Something that scratches the itch of a Ret paladin from WoW would be really nice. Maiming gear, a 2h hammer, some party support utility like RDM, but purely melee DPS.

Unpopular opinion: we have enough jobs. I'd rather them focus on improving job identity than keep releasing more.
