Thanks for clarifying, I read that and was like hmm interesting but wanted to know what you meant.
Mentally I sprang into three directions when reading it:
- Magitek Pilot as a limited job, taking some of the really old ideas our dev team had for magitek combat mixed with perhaps some of the fancy g-warrior content they made
- Engineering job, before we had a healer announced had suggested a Garlean inspired combat medic which used technology to craft some potent healing / buffs (as their gimmick) while also having a large kit of other technological inspired tools. Like orbital strikes, structures, drones, grenades', etc.
- Advanced craft jobs, like Paladin in FF history (no longer really in FFXIV unless you're thinking really really early days). Paladin took white mage and gladiator for example, here you might have advanced crafting jobs (new crafting jobs) such as Materia Maester that can make special effect materia. Or going back to that magitek pilot you might have magitek engineer. Then again I just look at that and wonder why not put the craft under goldsmith lol. It does add some opportunity to have more leveling later in an expansion or what have you (say 5.5 adds 10 more levels to magitek engineer, that could be cool), fields of focused types of crafting, might be some exclusive gimmicks you can have (when crafting as a magitek engineer the UI changes a bit some unique new mechanics, etc), it's not .. not useless but you'd have to take advantage of the separation in a way tangible enough to not just be a way to obfuscate things.
Crafty damage dealer could work as well, though it is semi-related to MCH ? Crafty tank is certainly a more open field though.

I'd like to see dual pistols, dual swords, dual scythes (Yes that became a thing for me after playing Darksiders 2) and dual axes. I guess that's pretty much every dual melee weapon xD
Also a pistol and sword job similar to the red mage, and it would be interesting to have a club and shield job as well.
Axe and shield from what i see is going to the beastmaster.
Oh and last but not lest, a sole or dual shield job inspired by the shield hero anime
I realize most of these aren't going to happen but one can dream![]()

My choice would be a rune knight or something of that nature. Essentially a melee range caster that uses magic to augment their attacks, maybe even with short cast times and, like the other casters, a reliance on MP.
Second would be basically a proper archer/sniper class for ranged DPS. I know that the devs have said there won't be any more split branch classes like SMN/SCH but I'd still love to see a bow user that branches off from ARC into a more pure DPS focused class, perhaps even borrowing some of the concepts in BLM where you have longer ability activation times and more limited movement but with tools to play around with those challenges.

2 votes? Ehh... That's hard to pick...
1. Chemist (Healer)
2. I'd like to see something with a hammer (as a tank) but it is hard to know what exactly, or maybe a Werewolf (as a tank), but thats hardly a "class" lol I could say Necromancer as Magical ranged DPS but we are lacking healers at the moment... So I'll go with Time Mage (Healer/Support)

Square Enix have extorted money from Viera and Hrothgar's limitations, but from the outside looking in it seems barely any of that money is invested back into the limited races. How much money have they made from players
fantasia'ing to and from the limited races? We want more race-exclusive hair.
We want them improved, and we want it done within a reasonable time.

...how about a class (either Tank or DPS, I'm leaning more towards the latter) based on Advent Children™ Cloud?
Y'know, walking around with half a dozen swords that can be assembled into one big one, maybe their rotation involves slapping more on until the whole thing is assembled? Or there's different paths/combos with intermediary stages that are better for some things than others? E.g., if at one such stage it had a serrated blade, it would apply DOT (Bleed).
Doesn't necessarily have to just be swords, the "base" could be a short spear, for example. Nevertheless this would probably be a nightmare to design weapons for, but I think it could make for an interesting class?
EDIT: To also explore the opposite extreme, how about a Tank that only uses shields... or a shield? I'm thinkng either like Rhitahtyn (guns optional), or more interestingly (imo) based on the very obscure dueling shields which were a real weapon, effectively a combination shield-polearm!

Player
I think that the Japanese playerbase is onto something with Sumo.
Plus maybe female Sumo wrestlers in video games will help ease the sexism in the sport in Japan and normalize the idea of female Sumo wrestlers a little.
❤️Hydaelyn is precious Crystal Mommy!

Anything with a hammer. GIVE ME A BIG TWO HANDED HAMMER TO SWING YOSHI as a dps.
And sword saint as a tank
