Alright, so with the Firmament being out and all I would like to take the opportunity to express my opinion on what I think should be done with the wards going forward, because while adding new wards is nice and all, it doesn't address the key underlying problems that have been plaguing housing in the game for years. Bare with me here as I got a lot to type up.
INTRODUCE AN NPC THAT WILL "RENT" OUT A WORKSHOP
For those FC's that still do not have a home and or any new FC's formed going forward, this will be a viable solution for those who are interested in doing workshop content. SE made the decision to lock this content behind home ownership, and while there are many FC's out there that would love to participate in it, they simply cannot because of how incredibly limited the housing is in the game. This was a terrible decision that the community has been voicing for years and while back in ARR the player base wasn't as large, Shadowbringers is your most successful expansion to date. With an ever increasing player base, I think it is well past time for some minor overhauls that make the content accessible to everyone, both old and new players.
There is also another reason behind introducing the option to rent a workshop and it is in regards to those individuals that own multiple FC plots. These FC's, 9/10, have 2-3 members, and are either held by RMT traders and or single individuals that farm airship & sub missions to make the gil. Now while I feel like it wouldn't solve the issue completely, as I am sure there are many players out there that do thoroughly enjoy trolling their fellows, I do feel it will combat the situation fairly well.
UPGRADE & ADD A "COMMUNITY" GARDEN TO APARTMENTS
Gardening, another part of the game SE decided to lock behind home ownership. Adding apartments was a great idea to try and help those wanting to have their own piece or Eoreza, but again, it is incredibly limited and basically an FC room. Please allow us to either upgrade our apartments (let's say, the first floor of a medium house) or just overall make the apartments themselves larger, while also introducing a community garden to the apartments. We would have an option to go out to our "patio" and from there, can garden to our hearts content! Again, solving the issue of content being locked behind home ownership now being accessible to everyone., while also giving those of us enough room to make our living spaces a bit more comfortable and unique.
LIMIT WHICH FC'S CAN TRANSFER TO NEW WARDS AS THEY'RE INTRODUCED
This is, by far, the most difficult request to balance. I am of the personal opinion that FC's that have 2-3 members as well as newly created FC's should NOT have access to new wards as they are implemented, and this is simply because, as history has shown, these small FC's that are made before new housing wards get introduced are either A) botter owned, or B) held by a single individual. This goes to my above statement where there will always be someone wanting to troll others because that is their thing. Now while I am sure there may be a few legitimate small FC's out there, again, the main reason to have an FC house is for access to the workshop. Introducing a way for these smaller FC's to have access to the content without home ownership, will ultimately help them in the end and while it may be discouraging that they cannot get a house right away in the specific ward they want, they still have the option of the other wards once others have transferred, so again, while they might not consider it to be a complete win, it is still better than nothing.
I typed this up today because as I was crafting away in the Firmament I stumbled upon the opinion of how many could be discouraged by the fact that they have to grind and work toward opening up Ishgard housing, literally building them from the ground up, to have those same houses to get snatched up by botters and single individuals that find creative ways to go around the limitations SE has placed. And frankly, hearing that opinion did make sense to me. It WOULD be incredibly disheartening and discouraging for anyone without a home, both individual and FC's, to see plots get snatched away by these individuals. I'm of course, open to discussing further ideas on how to better improve the lives of Eoreza's homeless WoL's, but I think it's well past time for SE to:
1) Acknowledge that their limiting content behind home ownership did ultimately spawn this kind of behavior.
2) Implement changes that make content available to everyone as a means of lessening the harmful impact the actions of the above stated individuals have hurting a collective group of people.
Sorry for my long posting here. Again, I am open to discussion, but please SE, let's try and work something out before you introduce any new wards into the game. Just trying to hot fix it by throwing in more wards every couple of months/year isn't helping.
