    New player Relic weapon questions.

I just finished Heavensward and I want to do relic weapons for the glamours.

A lot of the information on these I see online seems to be years old, so I'm just curious in the games current state how difficult it would be to complete a HW relic weapon.

Just some basic questions like how long should it take? Can it be done solo? How expensive will it be? I have about 1 million gil and maxed out tome poetics and GC seals.

I only really want to do the relic for my Paladin, so what is 1 finished relic weapon gonna cost me?

    Thanks.

It takes a decent chunk of time.

Many parts of it are soloable, but you have to do some hard mode primals, a couple of which will need a friend due to mechanics.

Theres very little $ cost, but youll need many, many, capped turnins of poetics (up to 14 or 15k i think) and another currency source, which will likely either be crafting scrips, gathering scrips, or ventures -> amber vilekin.

This guide is accurate for your needs: Anima Weapons

HW relics are probably the easiest relics to complete, and are easily completed without spending a single gil (except for teleporting, I suppose). A majority of the HW relic is just Poetic tomes, more and more and more and more Poetic tomes. You can do a lot of it solo, but you might need some help for a handful of things.

    How long will it take?
That entirely depends on how fast you're generating Poetic tomes, since that's the bottleneck for many steps. You can actually prefarm a bunch of the stuff (maybe only if you've completed a HW relic before?). I like to buy all the poetics stuff in advance, then when I'm done I'll knock out a relic from start to finish in a day or two.

    Step 1: Do some fates.
    - Fast, easy, solo, free.

Step 2: Do these 10 old dungeons.
    - Boring, but easy, soloable (unsync), and free.
    - You can use a better weapon for the entirety of the dungeon, just make sure you have the crappy relic equipped when you exit.

Step 3: Get these various materials
    - Easy, soloable, free.
    - You can buy half of them with Grand Company seals. 80,000 GC seals in total.
    - You can buy the other half with Poetics (and a handful of other methods, like ARR/HW beastmen quests). If you go Poetics-only, it's 6,000 Poetics.

Step 4: Get 5 Aether Oil
    - Easy, soloable, free.
    - You can buy these with 1,750 Poetics.

Step 5: Get a bunch of Crystal Sands and Umbrite
    - Easy, soloable, free.
    - The Umbrite will cost you roughly 4,500 ~ 5,500 Poetics.
    - The Crystal Sands are most easily obtained via DoH/L Yellow Scrips by buying and trading in a bunch of Rowena's Token (Blue).
    - If you don't do DoH/DoL, then some people run HW leves for the Amber-encased Vilekin trade-ins.
    - You can technically get the sands via poetics as well (via the Unidentified items turn-in), but that's like... a shitload of poetics.

Step 6: Get 50 Singing Clusters
    - Easy, soloable, free
    - You can get these via a couple quests, or just buy all 50 for a total of 2,000 Poetics.

Step 7: Get 15 Pneumite, run 3 lv60 dungeons, get a bunch of light
    - Easy, free, technically soloable but getting light solo is way slower than doing it in a group
    - 60,000 GC seals for the Pneumite

Step 8: Get 1 Archaic Enchanted Ink, and run a bunch of old trials
    - Mostly soloable, free
    - 500 Poetics for the ink
    - Most of the old trials are easily soloable. You might need a couple friends to tackle the last 4.
    - You can use a better weapon for the trials, just make sure you have the crappy relic equipped as you exit.

Strictly adding up my bolded figures, that's...
    - ~15,000 Poetics
    - 140,000 GC seals

Thanks, a lot of useful information.

I assume the duty finder is fair game for anything requiring old trial or dungeon clears.

So, just so I'm clear, nothing actually requires crafting or crafting scrips? Can all be bought with poetics, GC seals and solo farming?

Correct, BUT I would recommend crafting or gathering personally as the scrips are much easier to do then the vilekin from leves.

With Ishgard restoration leveling a crafter is a joke right now, so pick your poison and get it up to around 50 or so (which is pretty quick) so you can start doing collectables. Collectables (and especially custom deliveries) are the easiest way of getting scrips and the turn in for them for the tokens you need is a breeze.

lol, honestly I do already have both gatherers and crafters leveled up past 50, some at 60. If I can do it with gathering scrips I may just do that, I just assumed the timed nodes would make it obnoxious but if it's that much faster then I'll go with it.

Also, What's the fastest way to farm poetics? I know I should hit the main scenario and level 50/60 dailies, but is there anything repeatable within the same day I can do for poetics?

And, are the evolutions of the anima weapons all usable as glamour when you get them, or do you have to finish the whole quest?

Timed nodes are really a joke. The scrips you get from Custom Deliveries will make up the bulk of your scrip exchange for tokens. However I'd say for an easier time do them as Crafters, since crafting them is much quicker then gathering since you just buy the mats at the Iddylshire for the 50-60 ones.

ARR/HW/SB hunts are a good way of getting them on top of the dailies. If you also like to PVP at prime time, running frontlines will get you them quickly too. But I'd say Hunts and Dailies are the two best ways of getting them, especially if you tank/heal for quick queues.

They are all usable but i don't believe you can purchase any until the weapon is completed. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but the node will sell you the replicas after you make the last one. I believe they changed it in Eureka though.

I'm curious if you could elaborate on part of this...

I'm looking to kind of pre-farm the Crystal Sands I need, so I'm going to try for a bunch of yellow crafting scrips to trade in. What turn ins can I do where I can buy all of the mats in Idyllshire?

Anima Weapons are pretty easy to get, Relic weapons are horrible. HW ones are really easy though, but just finish the game and get to 80 first, it'll make things easier with soloing content.

That would make sense, but I kind of want these for the rest of the story. I'm mostly doing this for aesthetics, so may as well get it now and enjoy them for the rest of the story.

Soloing content hasn't been much of an issue; My 60 Paladin has been able to solo any 50 content that doesn't have a mechanic that requires more than 1 person. The painful part seems to be poetics, but it looks like you can just keep running the aetherochemical research facility over and over for 150 poetics a pop. Fast queues with my tank and I should be able to power through the poetics requirement without too much pain. I'm already flush with GC seals as well.

The only thing I feel like I don't have a handle on is the scrips for Crystal Sand.
