Issue with downloading patch files? (Australia, Perth)

    Hello everyone.

With the new patch 5.1 I‘m getting the same error “Unable to download patch files [30413][25008][20495][20495]”

I’m from Australia (Perth) so don’t know if that plays apart of the issue. I’ve also tried using the older client still with the issue.

I had this same issue with 5.0 needed to use a VPN in order to download the files.

is there away around this to fix the issue and download the files outside of using a VPN.

There seems to be a lot of people from Australia/oceanic area having the same issue. Has SE came out and said this is a issue?

We should not have to result to using a VPN just to download the patch files?? We all ready have to pay more for subs since there not in AUD???

Thank you for your time and have a great day!

I'm having the same issue. But in case it resolves and you decide to keep your subscription, you can buy time cards in Australian dollars here

    Hey there,
I had this issue too. I went through all the trouble shooting and solutions on reddit. The ONLY thing I could get to work was to buy and download a vpn (cyberghost is the one I went with) and set the server to america (set mine to Chicago). Downloaded without issue, but now it won't let me connect to the lobby without the vpn. Have to have a us connection to play now. It's pretty bullshit but it works.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Unfortunately, if you are able to download it with a VPN, then you are likely running into a routing issue along your way to the server. The VPN is taking you along another route where you avoid these issues. In this situation, I'd suggest contacting your ISP and making a report with them.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Ok, Being real right now. Pretty much everyone I know in this country has been having an issue connecting to YOUR server. I think if the issues is at this wide of scale, you should be investigating your own routes from the akamai server, because this is a widescale issue that's been ongoing since around the release of 5.1.
It's like the content is not properly deployed on the server though. Because reports say that content IS being downloaded but erroring in the middle. Everyone is reporting that it stalls at the same point of content.

I am seriously failing to understand how a entire countries ISPs are all collectively having problems with a single server, and suddenly it's their fault?

Like I'd understand if this was only a problem for like at most 48 hours? But it's been over 2 weeks, coming up 3 and there's be absolutely no progress made, no official statement on any social media to at acknowledge the issue with how widespread it has been talked across multiple community sites. Like people have been tweeting this to the English twitter account and I've seen next to no response, only other people who know how to mitigate the issue, but it isn't really a solution, since the system is not working correctly, it really should be rectified.

It really does seem like a large-scale issue affecting the Oceania region and I feel pretty ignored by SE when a 9-page thread on the topic with multiple people lodging reports was just quietly shuffled away to "Separate Support Required" with the suggestion to contact our ISP. SE has a lot more clout than any individual player; I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to investigate the routing issues affecting an entire region.

I've been having the same issue over the last week and a bit (can't recall if I first noticed it when trying to update for the first time after 5.1 or the first mini update afterwards). In Perth, Australia on the iiNet (TPG) network.

Within a few seconds of beginning the patch it failed with:
    FFXIV Launcher Error
    Unable to download patch files.
    [30413][25008][20495][20495]

Ultimately I was able to solve it by changing DNS locally on my computer (and then flushing DNS to make sure it kicked in). Note that Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) did NOT work. I had to try a third one (Open DNS 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220) before it worked. Going back to my ISP standard DNS after updating allows me to play as normal.

Prior to that I went through the whole rigmarole
    - Google IPV4 and IPV6 DNS.
    - Investigating file access permissions for My Documents > Final Fantasy file.
    - Making sure there were no user access permission issues.
    - Disabling Windows Defender firewalls and uninstalling my AV completely.
    - Swapping to the original launcher.
    - Uninstalling the client and game completely - this got it patching again for a good 20GB, but it still failed with the same error after a certain point (and restarting client then gave the same error after a few seconds).

Seems like there -might- be some kind of routing issue for certain files in the patch - is anyone getting the same error code also on the iiNet / TPG network? If it is an ISP issue the same thing's likely to happen next patch.

I would like to run some more extensive ping / traceroutes on my ISP's DNS vs OpenDNS's one and ask my ISP to review, does anyone know if I should just use the remote IP Windows Resource Manager uses or is there a known list for FF14 servers?

I tried this while I was having the issue, running a tracert to the akamai server i got from resmon.

It completed in five hops with no timeouts.
