Defense is still pretty useless.

Tanked the Amulja stronghold boss yesterday on both Paladin and Warrior. I saw no difference in damage taken from attacks overall, but had significantly less HP as the Pld.

That is not to say I took significantly less damage when utilizing Divine Veil and Outmaneuver, a combo I think really helped paladin (especially since you are easily guaranteed a wardrum and phalanx > spirits within combo).

HP, sadly, is still king of the defensive stats. Despite all of Paladin's Defense, it still only takes maybe 100 less damage than a mage on the monsters we were fighting... and when that's 1100 to 1000 that's not really as much as you would expect to see from a stat that's "working as intended."

I certainly don't want tanking to be a breeze walk in the park, nor do I want any tank to be able to be lazy and not move out of enemy abilities it should have to move out of, but every game I've ever seen (including XI) a tank wearing lots of defense took a pretty significant amount less damage from attacks than mages, DDs, etc. This game that is not happening yet.

I do, however, think that Paladin is actually very viable as a single target tank at the moment, especially after these changes. I had a blast using it, and seeing a few improvements to at least make it feel beefy like a Warrior would be nice (The example being that if warrior had 6k hp and pld had 3k, pld should take half the dmg from an atk that warrior does, making its effective hp about the same as warrior, or something along those lines).
