    Levelling crafters from 50

New sprout here. All my crafters are currently beginning the journey beyond level 50. Levelling them isn't an issue at this stage because of the insane amount of xp afforded by the daily GC duties. What I do need help with are the job quests, specifically how to get my stats up to the required levels and advice on macros post 5.1. Any help provided is gratefully received but please bear in mind as a new player I am not flush with gil and have a main job, still only coming to the end of the Dragonsong quest line, to fund.

My DoL are all in their 60s. Would I be correct in thinking they are my best way to accumulate the mats/gil needed to level their alter egos in DoH?

You are right about Gathering use your gatherers to obtain mats as often as you can. Take full advantage of leve quests they are your friend for gaining fast exp. As for rotations I cant really help there not without putting on 50 crafting gear and ditching my 50+ skills to see what stats and skills I have to work with. Sure someone else will see this post that can help you out on the rotations and stuff though.

Since crafting is greatly simplified now it shouldn’t be hard to learn how to craft (and figure out your own macros as desired for repeated crafts and grinding.) They even give you advice on how to build stacks of inner quality, unleash Byregot’s, etc.. If you are having trouble HQing an item for a job quest you may be able to start with HQ materials to make it easier. Food can also help, as can FC buffs and crafting benches. Figuring out crafting on your own is fun and not hard.

For gear just make a level appropriate HQ set and meld the guaranteed slots. Making your own gear also helps with xp and costs. If HQ is cheap you can also buy a set. If it is expensive you can make another set and sell it.

For xp in addition to GC turn-ins (always look for bonus and make HQ items) don’t forget the ixal, moogle and namazu beast tribe quests, and crafting role quests at 70, and always use engineering manuals and food. At lv60 you also get weekly custom deliveries, which give xp and scrip. And stay current with your job quests.

If you don’t want to craft at all then you can usually buy leve items from npc shops, but you may need to craft yourself for collectible turn-ins and job/role quests past lv50. I recommend actually crafting because the xp is huge now and because it is fun and satisfying to craft items on your own and level up.

Also yes gathering is good; even better is leveling gathering retainers so they can do it for you.

But hunting retainers are also useful for crafting mats, notably hides for ltw and fleeces for wvr.

I see so many people complaining about how simple it is now, but I never actually got to experience much of that leveling since they changed it soon after I started, was crafting difficult before 5.1 or just tedious? Also I haven't been able to find a NPC for some of the leve items do you know which ones?

Personally, I find crafting way better now. It was a major chore to even level a single crafter and the skill bloat was definitely something that needed to be addressed. I’m having a blast with crafting now.

As for leves, for 50-60 the levegiver should be close to the Ishgard aetheryte in Foundation.

For class quests, I'd say delay them. Level to 66, then go back and do them over geared. You could even go so far as level 70 before addressing class quests. This will allow you to wear the level 70 Yellow scrip set when you do them and will allow you to do them in sequence. It keeps them in context. They are a side story in themselves but it's not really something you can appreciate when you are fitting them in between leve mat farming.
