Doomtrain in FFXIV!

Do you know what the best summon is? Doomtrain. Therefore Doomtrain needs to be in FFXIV. As a primal, mount, minion or otherwise. He just needs to be in the game.



Now don't you tell me he's already in it; because that's Phantom Train, and Phantom Train is a completely different train (and character). They're not one and the same. Phantom Train is cool, but not as cool as Doomtrain.



One of the main reasons I bought FFVIII Remastered was to use my favourite of all Summons/GFs/Espers/Eidolons/Eikons/Etc. again. And now I just hope he will be added to this game at some point.



Who agrees? Who disagrees? (Why would you disagree? Why would you deny Doomtrain!?) Also... what other summons from older games should be added eventually?

Do you know what the best class is? Fighter. Therefore Fighter needs to be in FFXIV. As a job, Lyse-exclusive Trust, poster boy, or otherwise. It just needs to be in the game.

Now don't you tell me Fighter is already in here; its because that's Monk. And Monk is a completely different character (and job). They are not one and the same, Monk is cool but not as cool as Fighter.

One of the reason I play Final Fantasy I Remake is to use my favorite Warrior of Light that is punchy/tank floory/ straightforward. again. And now, i just hope it would be added into the game somehow.

Yeah, they aren't the same. Though similar, (such as able to inflict various status ailments) their stories are completely different, though Phantom Train has a bit more to it and you can get some tidbits on DT by reading Occult Fan magazines in FF8. DT is just inspired and an actual summon, as to PT, who's a small little area/dungeon in FF6 that takes souls away to the 'farplanes' lol!

That said, yes please. I love DT!

Well, Doomtrain as a minion was hinted at as a joke during the Rising event in 2015, so, maybe it's coming eventually?

As for the differences between Doomtrain and FFVI's Phantom Train, they're largely trivial, as both are ghost trains that are sentinent (FFVI's one being an actual train that was destroyed in war, and then became a psychopomp guiding the departed to the other side). Doomtrain definetely looked more demonic though.

Either way, I say yes to this. I'm like Selphie, I like trains.

Phantom Train is from FFVI and takes souls to the afterlife. It looks like this;



Doomtrain is from FFVIII; it is a summon and hinted at running stuff over when certain items are nearby in a magazine. It does not take souls to the afterlife... it likes to run things over... a lot. It looks like this;



It also flies and has a track made of fire... Phantom Train runs on a normal track.

This as well; Doomtrain has a very organic design; bones and flesh etc. Phantom Train is metal.

Anyhow yeah I heard about that hint at a minion; honestly if it looked like proper Doomtrain I'd settle for that as its representation in FFXIV.

And yet Yoshi also as I recall now mentioned something ages ago when asked about if players would ever go to Garlemald that he thinks "they would use Doomtrain to make the journey" (paraphrased of course). It's unclear exactly what he meant by that though, although I think personally he was reusing a reference from ARR's initial storyline about the secret Garlean railway in Eorzea between Castrum Centri and Castrum Meridandium that was also called 'the Phantom Train' (that had zero connection to FFVI's one that appears during the Omega raids - the Garlean one is simply a reference to it's secret nature).

Either way, I think given Yoshi is clearly wanting to move away from fighting Primals as a story element I don't think we're ever going to see Doomtrain as an actual Primal - the aforementioned Wind Up Doomtrain hinted at back in 2015's Rising would probably be the limit of it's appearence here sadly if it ever um... arrives.
