    Rival Wings Feedback

    Hello everyone!

We'd like to provide feedback to further improve the Rival Wings mode and encourage further participation in the future. Currently there is a lack of feedback from the western community on the Official Forums and we'd like to have our voices heard, this is a community effort across multiple discords in NA/EU to provide PVP feedback on Official Forums. We hope the following feedback can be brought to the attention of the development team and encourages the player base to become more active on the forums.

Please post your feedback regarding Rival Wings in this thread.

    A small request:
    - Keep it civil please,
    - Don't feed any trolls.

    Community Discords -
PvPaissa - Central hub for Feast and Frontlines
Revival Wings - PvP discord with emphasis on scheduling, teaching and grouping up for Rival Wings.
The Braveheart - PvP discord for the Primal PvP community.
Banette JcJ - French-focused PvP discord and hotspot for Custom Matches in EU.

    A quick feedback from myself:

Integrate a map of the full arena into the UI.

without a doubt the first thing i tell people to do in RW is to close their mini map and open up the full map, its very important to be aware of upcoming objectives/incoming enemy mechs to win, would like to see this added as a way to provide information in a mechanic heavy gamemode and reduce the chat macro spam informing the team of objectives and mechs.

Bring back the old Astralagos map

i want to see more map variety in RW, the old map did have its flaws but if the dev team considered a rework (smaller map, lanes on similar heights etc) it would make the mode more appealing, as queuing into the same area can be repetitive and leads to people simply becoming bored.

Consider a Rival Roulette in the Duty Tab

This can tie in with my above point, you can alternate the maps each day and may encourage participation for people looking to gather tomes, wins/achievements etc this was heavily voted for in favour when brought up in Revival Wings discord.

    Consider Removal of Cannons

This might be a controversial opinion, but i've played a fair share of games in RW and one of thing that frustrates me is how easily cannons can cover for the teams lack of awareness/defence. i could make a play where i sneak past the enemy defence as a Brute Justice only to be torn apart by a single cannon user, yes i could rocket punch and mega beam them but when it comes down to very small % in core HP for the win i just want to get as many hits into the core as possible, Allow me to punish the enemy team for lacking awareness and letting me through their defence.

Finally, Consider a rework to collecting CE

This would be a difficult issue to tackle, but in a game mode with a very heavy reliance on completing Objectives the last thing i want to do is to break off from a fight and have to collect CE tanks to use mechs, i feel this bores people into doing what is essentially a fetch quest in pvp. I'd like the team to consider the option to reward players actually pvp-ing, allow the use of mechs from team kills obtained (think using the soaring stacks as a form of currency) maybe even reach a certain number of soaring for example: 10 - OPP, 15 - Chaser, - 20 Brute. i feel this change would remove what is a boring pve element in a pvp mode to encourage actual pvp, focus on winning the objectives and defeating enemy players.

Consider adding a single-person instance for player practice

At the moment, if you want to learn anything about Rival Wings, you have to talk to a goblin (who is not marked with any special title, making him seem like a random NPC). This goblin will give you some slides with text and pictures to explain Rival Wings.

When a player joins their first Rival Wings match, their UI gets additional windows showing a lot of different information which the player would have to set up to their liking(customize UI) and check what each of them are showing. This will slow them down in the beginning.

Then there is the factor of the robots. If you have not learned anything about them, you might grab a robot and use it incorrectly, wrecking it quickly and costing your team resources.

A single-person instance could help with some of these problems. It would give a new player time to get familiar with the new UI without stressing them in a live match. It would also give the player time to train with the different robots and learn what they can do and are good at, give time to read tooltips and such.

This will make it less stressfull for a new player, and would maybe help get new people for Rival Wings.

I think it time for more rewards to be added to Rival Wings if they want further incentive to play on NA/EU. If you look at the larger PvP counterpart, frontlines... there are 3 times as much rewards. Frontline has 3 maps, Rival wings has 2 maps. In Rival Wings, you work towards the White and Black Magitek Avenger Gorilla mounts. In frontlines overall you can get 3 Grand Company Mounts, Black ADS, Yellow ADS, White ADS, and The Field Commander Set. It's always good to give people options on what they would like to play instead of letting content die out.

    - New map
    - Rival Wings roulette
    - New Rival Wings exclusive rewards

All that comes to mind for now. Definitely nothing that wasn't mentioned already, but I think if it was mentioned enough by different people they're more likely to listen.

I would love to see more achievements added. There is potential for all kinds of achievements instead just having "Win x amount of times" :P

As others have echoed here, there is a severe disparity between the amount of attention Frontlines gets, in the form of mechanical changes, rewards and ease of access versus that of Rival Wings.

The fact that NA/EU has to resort to out-of-game coordination to even have a remote possibility of the gamemode being available is pretty damning. Especially on Data Centres which don't house a particularly active population, PvP or otherwise. We need serious developer intevention to ensure this content continues to be in use.

Add Rival Wings either to the Roulette or bunded into the Frontlines roulette.
    More rewards.
    Greater ease-of-access for new comers.
Possibly look at reducing the numbers required to pop the queue, although this could severly change the power dynamic of the mode.

Integrated map is what I want the most. You basically need it open the whole time anyways.

That and let us use some of those tools that feasts has in Rival Wings. They are useful callouts!

The biggest reason why Rival Wings is underplayed is the rewards are significantly lower than the other modes for the same effort. While fun is an important part of the game having less than half the reward is hugely detrimental.

    Current Problems:

    Problem: No extra daily bonus.

If you want to play a game a day. A Rival Wings game is going to net you 1/2-1/3 of the Wolf Marks you'd get off a Frontlines game.

Solution: Daily Roulette like Frontlines or added to the Frontlines rotation.

    Problem: Challenge Log difficulty.

Challenge Log requires several more games of Rival Wings than Frontlines Log does for the same reward. Even with a Daily Roulette for it you'd still need to put in more game during the week to grab the Challenge Logs.

    Solution: Reduce Challenge Log requirements.

Problem: Current lack of longterm PvP rewards.

With Garo no longer existing over half of the overall Wolf Marks usage doesn't exist anymore. There is a severe lack of rewards for newer players and even veterans. In under 20-30 hours of PvP well under 100 games played. You'd have enough that you'll start stacking up on Wolf Marks with nothing to buy.

Solution: Add old Feast rewards as longterm rewards or introduction of new expensive rewards. Old Feast rewards should keep their immense rarity but they should also be "attainable" as a lifetime reward. Immensely expensive at 200k-2m Wolf Marks. Even buying one would require several hundred games. Otherwise adding several new rewards that are intended as expensive lifetime rewards will also suffice

    Problem: Newbie Mechs.

It's not indicative enough that Oppressors are purely for destroying Towers/Core. The same for Chasers killing mechs and players as a secondary.

Solution: Oppressors should only be able to damage towers, cores and cannon users. Chasers being unable to damage Mammets, Spin Crusher doing significantly reduced damage to high hp players but with immensely increased damage to low hp ones or those that have been hit by Laser X Sword/Optical Sight. By not offering any damage or effect for the action newbie players will be encouraged to immediately stop doing them. The end result causing them to perform their actual role.

Problem: Shooting from the middle of the lane at the enemy Core not being so easily understood.

There should be more indication as to where you can damage the Core from as an Oppressor/Justice. Even indications for towers as well such as the stair spots.

Solution: When in an Oppressor/Justice there should be an effective range at which your attacks can start damaging a Tower/Core as an effect emanating from it.

I know it's already been stated, but the simplest "fix" for Rival Wings would be to add a Daily Roulette/Challenge for it like the one that already exists for Frontlines. That alone would bring in tons of new blood to the game mode. I'm not saying other changes like the ones posted above aren't necessary, just that the fastest (and seemingly easiest) way to revive Rival Wings' population would be to add a lucrative daily incentive to players who would otherwise probably not even play it.
