MSQ CS Torture, I have a Solution!

It occurred to me that when we go into any dungeon or raid the system is able to detect new players who are doing it for the first time and as a result we get bonus tombstones. So if the purpose of locking the CS's is to ensure new players don't get left behind why not make it so the system only locks the CS when it detects someone in the MSQ for the first time? Cause honestly a lot of the times we've done it like 100 times and its just torture having to go through the CS over and over making what should be a 15 minute run 40 minutes long. Not an accurate time but I'm sure you get my meaning.

Can we PLEASE get this. It would be such a relief not to have to suffer the CS purgatory. Its just maddening.

What I'd suggest for the MSQ roulette is a vote to skip Cut scenes option right when you enter the duty and before players are able to move

I suggest you dont do the MSQ roulette if you dont "want" to watch the cutscenes - anything that involves a vote or checking for new people will only lead to ruining the experience for said new people: if one person is new but 7 arent they're either pressured into voting to skip or are just outvoted 7 to 1. If there is a new person and cutscenes are enabled, people will just leave and fish for a newbie-free run.

You're also forgetting that your reward is this huge to compensate for the cutscene time - so anything that skips the cutscenes should also cut the reward by 60-70% (if you cut the time the dungeon takes by that amount, you should also cut the reward accordingly - 15 instead of 40 minutes, so 37,5% of the exp instead of the full 100%)

People need to understand that this roulette and this system were put in place to help people running this for the first time. The main purpose isnt that YOU get an aweful lot of exp, the main purpose is to get you into those dungeons to help a new person watch their cutscenes in peace. You get the exp as a reward for that - and if thats not what you want to do, you're free to not do the roulette.

I understand its annoying when there is no new person, but all your suggestions will only harm the purpose of the roulette, as I explained above. The playerbase has shown that they cant be trusted with waiting for someone running this the first time and I for one rather see silly requests like this pop up in the forums from time to time then read about a new player experience who queued up for the grand final of ARR only to be left in an empty duty because everyone left since they knew they had to watch the cutscenes.

If its "pain" and "torture" for you to run those dungeons: Dont do it. There are plenty of other ways to get exp and tomestones.

I can somewhat agree but if everyone's already done it, there's no need to watch the cut scene. There won't be new people running it all the time

Yes, which is why people who dont want to watch the cutscenes but still want their juicy reward (thats only in place to compensate for watching the cutscenes in the first place) would simply leave when there is a new player - eat their 30 minute penalty and queue again hoping they wont have to deal with cutscenes the next time. Any system that will allow for a cutscene skip will ultimatly lead to new players suffering again.

That might be the case for 1 person or so, even if then, the person who leaves will suffer the penalty and have to take that "Chance" of hoping to not get someone new. Again, not everyone is going be new to it forever, there will have to be a change to it eventually.

There are always new people coming in, so... there will always be someone who needs to do this for the first time.

The actual best solution would be to turn those into solo-duties, utilising the AI they developed for Squadrons and Trusts and simply removing it from the DF alltogether, MSQ-roulette and all. That way no one will feel they have to "suffer" through those cutscenese the 100th times, while the new people can enjoy the end of ARR without feeling rushed or having people complain about having th watch those cutscenes again.

Those chances are pretty high when you can just PF a group looking for a quick run and guarantee skipping cutscenes. Which, as repeatedly stated, results in newer players having a harder time getting through queues. And, again, rewards for having a cutscene-free run would and should be made minuscule. The rewards are incentive for being patient through cutscenes. Remove the cutscenes from the equation, and the rewards have no reason to exist.

In conclusion, none of this is a new idea, there is no simple solution, if you want the rewards, display some patience, the system works fine as it is for now, until it is completely overhauled.

The reason why it doesn't do this is because impatient players would immediately quit if new players were detected because they couldn't be bothered with the cutscenes, so they'd just take the penalty and try again for a run that doesn't have new players simply so they can skip the cutscenes, hence the whole 'all or nothing' approach. It's bad player behaviour that has caused this, and SE are clearly not pleased with it, so they're not going to change it.

And I concur with everything Vidu said above: "don't want to deal with CM and Prae's cutscenes, don't queue for MSQ Roulette" it's as simple as that.

My point in this post is that it can be improved by using the system that detects new players to lock or unlock the cut scenes. And people already leave when its th short MSQ cause they want the other one for more exp. People leave for what ever reason and if they are gonna leave, big deal, let them and they can suffer the 30 minutes penalty for being jerks. Frankly I don't care if people leave cause if they do there's always someone else willing to pop in and take their place. It wont matter but it will make a huge difference in the game play if when groups full of seasoned players can skip the cut scenes and end the torture of these long MSQ runs.

And people do these runs for the daily bonuses for leveling and for tombstones so telling people not to run them if they don't like it is salty and uncalled for. everyone has the right to run the MSQ or any other content they want to get the tombstones and exp they need for their character. And we also have the right not to be tormented with cut scenes when the group isn't full of seasoned players.

This solution takes the pressure of new players and old. And as i said, if someone leaves, good, don't need jerks like that anyhow and it wont phase those who remain and there will be a replacement popping in right after. Only one who gets effected is the player who left cause now hes gotta wait another 30 minutes before he can que again which is almost as long as hey would have waited had he not left and just run the darn thing int he first place.
