Underwater Exploration?

In many MMO games such as WoW and GW2 you can jump into any river, pond, or ocean and just start swimming underwater. Personally, I think it would be really cool if, in the long run of course, SE developed something similar for FFXIV ARR. I mean really, who wouldn't want to go to crescent coast and just jump into the water?

they might add it to a expansion? just my thinking cause i remember yoshi saying he already has an idea for 2 expansions 1 that includes underwater and 1 that includes being in the sky.

I heard something about an underwater environment, but I don't think this would involve swimming (e.g. jumping into the water from Limsa Lominsa). I also personally wouldn't want it... I don't think swimming necessarily suits FF games and seeing everyone in robes just wading around would be an odd sight.

Oh man that may take me forever to find. It's one of the things he said months ago but he sure did say it maybe someone else who better at finding stuff can give you the link. He said he want to add swimming and a sky area.

One of the dev team did say that in Eorzea there a flying castle i hoping that come to light some day in the game .Yoshi-p said that players want to see more of a Sea expansion but he enjoy Sky more. So he may end up making the sky first then a sea but at the end does not matter i enjoy both

About the flying mount he never really hint on that but if you making a Sky expansion you need flying mounts i'm sure the flying mount would be that flying type airship that the hero used in the opening movie for 1.0



Sidenote about underwater remember him saying he want to make Leviathan dungeon underwater type. But he not sure how they going to do it yet. Would it be where you need air? or would it be where you just can stay underwater without a limit. I'm guessing that a few thing there looking into i'm not sure they can wait that long to add Leviathan tho so we may see him before underwater is ready.

Q: You mentioned about taking the mount-riding experience further, possibly into the skies or under the seas. How is this planning out? Does that mean there will be land mass in the skies as well?
A: We are still discussing internally whether to go with an underwater world or an aerial one. This content will happen in the next content update (after version 2.0 launches). Going up to the skies happened in Final Fantasy 11, while most games now have underwater worlds which are popular with gamers. We are just still really unconfirmed on which direction to go now.

Q: What about your personal preference?
A: Going by the international route, we will be making the underwater world first. But personally, I prefer the skies.

Underwater would suit Leviathan, which is why I could see them taking that as their next step forward in content approach. They could incorporate the Sahagin HQ and Leviathan altogether in one neat package.

For the aerial approach, not entirely sure. Other than another massive Garlean airship stationed somewhere in the skies that we could invade and attempt to sabotage. Though, on that same note; I really want them to do something with the Floating City of Nym. That place just looks awesome.
