Copying someone house decoration?

So recently i found someone who copying my basement (like to the very corner of it), im fine with it and actually kinda proud!
However my friend who share the house with me with the tenant system is not amused...

Just want to know what others think about this...

If I find something I find really neat, I might imitate it. Or from screenshots people post online.

I won't see it as a problem, as you say, it's more of a compliment. People wouldn't copy it if it didn't look good.

Also note that this has been done with glamour for years as well.

Well you don't own your design so being upset with it is all your friend can do.
Personally I would also take it as a compliment (altho I don't understand why you'd wanna take someones ideas for a whole room instead of having fun coming up with your own ideas) unless I knew that person claimed to have come up with that design, then I'd prob be pissed but I wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
My two houses (my own and my hubbys that i decorated) are a mix of my own ideas, things i've seen in other houses and things I've seen when googling for inspiration.

I borrow looks from people for houses I decorate.

14 is very hit or miss with how things look, sometimes the one thing someone is using is one of the only ways to get a specific set of things looking right.

After a few weeks of trying to get someone's FC house looking like they wanted, I'm about to start scouting out other servers for ideas, because theres a LOT of bad ways to have "fountains in side rooms of a marble hotel" and hell if I can get it to work right with the camera angle.

Running around looking for ideas in other peoples houses is one of the best things about Housing! Just seeing what people can come up with and how they have solved problems that you might have encountered.
Just like RicaRuin said, it's more of a compliment if someone is using your housing ideas.

Sure, you probably shouldn't go and steal someones entire housing design, but copying some minor things here and there makes no harm. At least not in my opinion.

I'm not really bothered by it, I'm kinda flattered! There's little that you can do to combat it - you can lock up your house and stop people from visiting if your friend wishes, but that's really it.

Others can copy what I've done all they want. It doesn't bother me at all and they get to be a bit happier with their own house/apartment.

It's also not necessarily someone copying but coming up with the same idea on their own. There are some furnishing combos that just make sense for certain looks.

Its a compliment when someone copies an aspect from your place. It means you designed it well. I actually spent about 1-2 hours going around to every ward in every area taking screen shots of every house in order to put together the better aspects of each of them and combining them into a singular concept whilst also considering my own creative side.

Housing is really fun when you are able to get into it. I feel bad for those who can't obtain one due to lack of supply but I love how innovative we can be with the Housing Designs in FF14.
