I only have a small idea for it. Gabranth in Dissidia NT has this special ability where he can stance change and (unsurprisingly) his abilities change. He has an offensive and support stance, but each has a price to pay. For example, the offensive stance abilities power up attacks in exchange of taking more damage, and the support stance abilities will heal and increase the defense of allies in exchange for damage. Of course it doesn't have to be literally that but I can see it borrowing that concept since there's really no job in FFXIV so far that actually dedicates itself in using stances. Monk is the closest thing but they don't really add anything else to your abilities. Aesthetically, the two stances are either black magic aspected or white magic aspected maybe? Or just something entirely different.

This topic always comes up whenever someone mentions Mystic Knight/Spellblade/Rune Fencer/A magic melee job. There's a lot of emphasis in being a melee with these ideas and even though Red Mage uses a rapier and has a melee spellblade finisher, it's still primarily a caster and always will be designed primarily that way for being in the ranged magic DPS role. There's plenty of ways to make it more distinct from Red Mage with just little imagination. I don't see Red Mage playing similarly to Black and White Mage even though it borrows assets from it.
