Sorry to sound like an a-hole but your post doesn't make it look like you have. You've provided a very vague and wishy washy idea without any real specific ideas of mechanics at all, like why is it called a spellblade in the first place?

There have been Runefencer jobs in the past, which is perhaps what you were thinking of, but it would be hard to make them distinct from red mages in FFXIV.

I apologize, I'm working this thread from my very outdated phone and there is a word limit to work within, I was sloppy in quickly removing a lot more posted to work for the word limit. It's true, when it comes to the magic aspect of the idea, that's where I haven't given it much thought. Magic classes are not my expertise, the jobs I favour in FFXIV are more physical with magical assistance, DRK, NIN, MNK, PLD, etc.

Honestly I have specifics I'd like to see for a new job but selfishness has not bode well for me in this game or forums before. I was trying to think up a job everyone, besides myself would also enjoy.

Personally, I already have a whole image and job in mind for my character, but limited by what's available and allowed in game.

But, it is my hope my posted idea will atleast spark more ideas. It seemed my best chance was using an example or idea of something that already exists in the FF world. A lot of reused and recycled content from within the FF franchise is successful, more successful then anything new and original created from scratch.

I've spent a lot of years and money on this game, after almost 7 years, I wanted to just try then sit back and watch everyone else who submit stuff get the ideas taken and implemented. If this is simply going to be closed then there is nothing I can do, I don't have the talent or means to create anything more flashy and artistic, like submitting a collection of artwork, displaying what it is I would like to see.

Creating a thread with an idea, even if disliked and replied with more negative then positive feedback, is the best and only option available to me. I just don't have the money or talent to do anything else.

I only have a small idea for it. Gabranth in Dissidia NT has this special ability where he can stance change and (unsurprisingly) his abilities change. He has an offensive and support stance, but each has a price to pay. For example, the offensive stance abilities power up attacks in exchange of taking more damage, and the support stance abilities will heal and increase the defense of allies in exchange for damage. Of course it doesn't have to be literally that but I can see it borrowing that concept since there's really no job in FFXIV so far that actually dedicates itself in using stances. Monk is the closest thing but they don't really add anything else to your abilities. Aesthetically, the two stances are either black magic aspected or white magic aspected maybe? Or just something entirely different.

This topic always comes up whenever someone mentions Mystic Knight/Spellblade/Rune Fencer/A magic melee job. There's a lot of emphasis in being a melee with these ideas and even though Red Mage uses a rapier and has a melee spellblade finisher, it's still primarily a caster and always will be designed primarily that way for being in the ranged magic DPS role. There's plenty of ways to make it more distinct from Red Mage with just little imagination. I don't see Red Mage playing similarly to Black and White Mage even though it borrows assets from it.

While this is true, you do have to present your idea about how Spellblade/Runefencer/Mystic Knight/etc Wwll differ from RDM. As it stands RDM and Mystic Knights do have some overlap now, and RDMs have been given the "spell blade" command, or a similar one, in several games, most notably Dimensions. Show us a fully fleshed out idea and you'll get the support for the job you are hoping for.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
