Bring back loot lockout for normal raids.

I was happy with the new normal raid loot system brought in with Shadowbringers, with 8 items if you weren’t picky you were bound to get something, it all felt very streamlined and I never had to spend more than 4 runs at my unluckiest running the same instance.

But now loot lockout is gone it’s back to the usual fighting for all the loot against everyone and their grandma regardless of if they need it or not and it sucks being in competition with the entire rest of the party for half or even a quarter of a piece of gear.

So my suggestion is rather than lifting the loot lockout entirely once the content is outdated, change it from a weekly lockout to a per run lockout. So when you run the instance you can only win one drop like the weekly lockout, but once you leave you can go back in again and lot on gear again.

This would keep the fairness of the lockout system in place and make people think carefully about what they want rather than just lotting everything.

They could even take this a step further and make it so you can only need on one item but can greed everything, meaning if you really want something you can need it but if you’re just after loot for the sake of lotting things you can still greed them.

I think they should keep all weekly lockouts and remove all catchup methods, it ruins the gear progress for new players when they can just buy the max item level gear with poetics.

I joined after the release of Shadowbringers, took about two months to finish the MSQ, eagerly went to the ShB endgame vendor with my 2k poetics, saved up from my adventures across Eorzea and Norvrandt, only to find to my shock and horror that I needed Goetia and Phantasmagoria to acquire endgame gear. /s

I don't know where this "poetics for highest raid gear" comes from. Or do you expect new players to gear progress through each expansion before moving onto the next? Heckin' wild, mate

For for end game currency, all current expansion gear will be bought with phantasmagoria (ilvl 460) and Goetia (ilvl440). For endgame gear from previous expansions (SB ended with ilvl 400) you can buy with poetics. I think what he was saying was that if youre a new player, and your going through the MST (lets say on 1 job only) so you have an abundance of poetics, you'll probably be level 70 (if not higher) by the time you even reach Stormblood content. In this case, as soon as you hit SB you could use poetics to buy the max ilvl gear for that previous expansion without having to go through everything to get it. IDK fully, since I do savage raids with a static so I've never had a gear problem.

And look at the kind of gear needed to do the first ShB dungeon. Far and above the item level obtained in the MSQ. There's no issue at all with being able to acquire previous expansion's content gear for poetics, especially as the vendors for HW and SB are locked behind finishing the MSQ. Forcing players to gear up through dungeons etc in earlier expansions would be a rather eregious time sink

While there is absolutely no problem with how poetics work and it's a great way to keep your alt jobs up-to-date with gear while leveling - leveling MSQ does supply you with good enough gear for any content said MSQ requires. The only time you need external ways to gear up, is when doing current level-cap MSQ and once new expansion is released, appropriate gear rewards are added to those quests as well. Following level 50 MSQ will reward you with multiple gear sets so that you're ready for any dungeon or trial you have to face, same at 60 and 70, no need to spend any poetics on your first job.

I think you're just being deliberately obtuse, frankly. Nobody wants to gear progress through each expansion.

No wonder ffxiv community outside official forum always refer the forum as a joke.

Nothing is stopping you from acquiring gear through the (outdated now) order. No need to impose that on others.
