I just saved two different people last night on the second boss of Factory when they failed to notice the flamethrowers were about to go off.
Rescue is fine. If anything, they could speed up the animation a tad.

I’ve used it to save people quite a few times, often when they’re tunnelling and haven’t noticed the incoming attack or where they’re so wildly out of position they cannot dodge the bad in time.
It is possible to mess up. I tried to rescue a cohealer in rab who was in wrong alliance section and had a group up marker on them. Unfortunately, as I used it, people from the other alliance were grouping up to help her, while my rescue didn’t get her to us in time. She called me an idiot. I agreed as I sheepishly rezzed her.
But just because an ability sometimes goes wrong or a person makes bad judgement, doesn’t mean it should be deleted entirely. Rescue has its place and when it is used well, it can be very effective.
So no thanks, we’ve lost enough stuff.

With the Trollspree of the OP withstanding
I do hate Rescue with a Passion. My Static troll me mad hard with it whenever we're doing Maps, Duns, and occasionally Savage content when they know for sure that we will still knock it out even with the Dps Loss. Tug the Leader is a sick game.
20+ year old man screaming like a little girl when the healer aligns themselves behind you in the final boss of Amaurot during the boss firing Mah Lazer and just suddenly snatches your butt off the platforms.
Amazing skill in the hands of people wanting to save you
Horrible skill in the hands of butt-hats like my team lol.
Tis the nature of most things I suppose.

I mean... it wouldn't need to be a thing if DPS learned to not stand in the bad.
Speaking of which.

I have been saved from a poorly timed raise so many times with Rescue.
I see it used to allow more DPS uptime. Or quicker LB damage.
It’s a fantastic tool when used right.

I got saved several times by rescue during a Copied Factory run where I was playing like total garbage, so I'm very thankful to whoever the healer was in that run.
Agreed, especially in the very DDR twitchy style of gameplay this game encourages, which is why I've always thought this skill doesn't belong.A player should only be able to control his/her own movements, and not have the ability to control those of another player.
Tbh Shirk doesn't have much practical reason to exist anymore either.Should we also remove Shirk
Memes aside, Rescue is a very useful tool not just for fixing mistakes but also for optimising play in organised groups. My static always uses Rescue after a Limit Break to cancel the LBer's animation lock and thus buy them one or more GCDs of uptime, in addition to potentially pulling them out of danger. We also sometimes use it just to allow a caster to turret as much as possible before pulling them to safety. That is risky and not always reliable due to the Rescue lag but... it's a fun thing to do! It's a creative use of a tool at our disposal that nets us a bit of extra dps and that feels good. And I think that outweighs any once in a blue moon trolling that someone might experience in a low-stakes environment with pugs.
And in any serious content, if someone's Rescue trolling hurts the team effort, that person earns the boot. Don't blame a tool for the actions of its user, just deal with the user.
And even in terms of helpful pug applications, Rescue EXISTS to get new players through Orbonne, against their will if one has to. I've lost track of all the times I had to pull someone into Dusk Blade circles >.>

I also saw someone get saved with Rescue in Frontlines yesterday; I almost had them dead in the ground and they got yoinked away back into their team, saving them.
