So make NMs drop random useless drops so people have a tale of how they came across epic trash items during their journey?
Having such archaic systems in place may satisfy the FFXI nostalgia for some people but for the people SE is targeting it won't.
All MMOs are about time sinks but this is not something this generation of gamers will find "fun" by any means. People are forgetting that FFXI never reached 1 million subs because of the shift of the genre. Low level items should always be easy and accessible to obtain without such time consuming methods. Endgame should be where the time sinks come into place.

Stop acting like it has to be like XI A lot of ppl actually liked to camp nm's bosses. I don't want the mobs to be 21 hr respawn with a 3 hr window. I could deal with a mob that re spawns every 21 hr 30 - 22hrs with 3 10 mins windows. If the NM is of High Level/endgame it would be great. However, for a mob dropping low to mid gear it is not a smart addition to the game. Time consuming mechanics should not take place before endgame.
FFXI does have some good pieces in its puzzle but it can't just be placed anywhere in todays MMO.

The 3 hour window was what caused the boss to move through time zones at a reasonable pace. For 'King' type NMs this is essential so the NM moves into prime time hours across every continent. Don't get me wrong I hated the 3 hour window, but there would have to be an alternative that let NA/EU/JP players all have a chance at the NM without having to stay up till 4 am everytime they want to try.Stop acting like it has to be like XI A lot of ppl actually liked to camp nm's bosses. While I'm all for adding more non-end game NMs to FFXIV's world... what, exactly, is their problem now? I think they're find the way they are.
It seems that every week there is a new "I want this from XI" burst of hot topic threads that are spammed.
There was "Slow down battles they need to be like XI"
Then there was "Remove anima and give teleport back to my whm"
Then "I want to be able to swap my gearz damit"
and now we're up to "I want XI style NM pops"
Willing to bet we see about 4 more threads pop up on XI style NMs before the week is over.
On topic: I really wouldn't mind having lotto spawn NMs, I just think when you start getting into the realm of 18+ hour NMs and or several hour pop windows it starts getting rediculous.


and what wrong with that? this is FFXIV and most of the player base are FFXI players so if big % of ffxi request for something they should get it just like people request for Jump,Auto attack and much more.It seems that every week there is a new "I want this from XI" burst of hot topic threads that are spammed.

Top of that it work in FFXI it was fun and hard if people want to waste 10 hours hunting a nm for a rare,ex Neck item let them they can make a system like bcnm which drop the system item but you can sell this one.
Problem Fix Casual and Hardcore even if people think time sink is not hardcore it still for many people and they could always make the NM.HNM very hard to kill vs the one in FFXIV where you could solo about everything at 50.
