    Level caps?

I have been scouring forums for a while trying to dig up any information on level caps as I can, but to no avail. I'm curious if anyone (particularly Square-Enix representatives) has any official information on what sort of level cap increases are ahead, and if they are pre/post 2.0. I've come back recently and seen the game has vastly improved and could possibly be ready for a level increase before 2.0 hits, but there is no word whatsoever on it. If anyone has any info to share on this, official or not, please contribute a post to this topic.

...and maybe if we beg SE enough, we'll get a cap raise before 2.0!

The only thing they've said about it is that they weren't considering it up to 1.21 because they don't want current players too far ahead of the rerelease/PS3 crowd.

That said, I don't see the point in raising the level cap any time soon. I could understand if leveling were quest-based and more levels meant more story, but we'd be leveling just for the sake of leveling. Leveling in XIV, as in XI, is a very dull experience.

XIV does not need a level cap increase now, and shouldn't see an increase after 2.0 either. As Sephrick said, the only official mention of level cap was that there were no plans to raise it up to 1.21.

There is no benefit to increasing the level cap right now as it will only hurt the game in the long run. Content needs to be condensed into lower levels with focus on 1-30 and then 30-45. The journey to 50 needs to be much more exciting and filled with diverse things to do.

Raising the level cap only defeats the purpose of all of the work that is being done for 2.0.

No way, adding any pre-50 content is a waste. Lvling is so fast that even new players skip by most of what is there, and there is a good amount. You go to shposhae to get new gear from the coffers and by the time you get a key your high enough lvl to equip something better. You spend some time in the 20s to join a GC and get choco, then get a drop from totorak at 30 next day your equipping the 35 nm drop... next day your equipping a lvl 42 weapon and day after that you're 50.

kinda exactly why i think levelling is far too fast. need to slow it down alot and make a ton of content to do on the journey.

Im sorry quest based leveling no thanks. Let me level in an exp grind, quests are ok but if I have to run here there and everywhere just for 5k exp, no thanks!!!!

Leveling in XIV is nowhere as dull as leveling in was in XI.

Its in fact even duller... without any challenge whatsoever on exp mobs and no need to employ battle tactis, XIV is one of the most boring MMORPGs to grind levels in..

XI was a grind in that it took a long time to level up, but the actual experience of party play etc was often very enjoyable to many, in XIV it just feels like a mindless repetetive grind even if you get levels faster...

Grinding solo, in pt or doing repetetive leves, its the same few combos over and over and over again, no skill, no tacic, no risk-reward choices and no party tactics needed for leveling(an exp party in XIV is more like 8 people soloing togheter then actual team work).

I dislike the quest hub style of leveling that WoW and its clones, but I still would prefer that any day over grinding in XIV, at least they try to be entertaining with quest stories, events and most of all variation and sometimes even challenge.

On topic, I doubt we will see a level cap increase any time soon, because why would the obsolete what little content we have by making us outlevel it?
As others said I would'nt expect a level cap raise until at earliest 2.0 but most likely we could expect to see one within a year from now.
