would be way to much work to increase level caps before 2.0. Think of all the content they would have to add for every single class and now jobs to. No they wont be increaseing level cap untill 2013 when 2.0 has been out for a while. Personaly i dont want to level 50-60 in the same boring maps anyway, would much rather increase my levels on the brand new 2.0 maps.

You spend some time in the 20s to join a GC and get choco, then get a drop from totorak at 30 next day your equipping the 35 nm drop... next day your equipping a lvl 42 weapon and day after that you're 50.
I can assure you sir that we most certainly do not skip anything! How dare you! :P

kinda exactly why i think levelling is far too fast. need to slow it down alot and make a ton of content to do on the journey.

I understand many people don't wish for the cap to raise before 2.0, however I actually made this thread to hopefully gain raw information instead of opinionated reasons why we don't need a cap raise. I see all the disadvantages of pre-2.0 cap raises, but I'd still like to know about when we can expect them even if it won't happen until 2013/2014. I think all the stuff that comes with a cap raise (given from FFXI's experience, an expansion with new jobs and areas to explore along with new content) would make a lot of people happy. I know you can get new jobs/areas/content without raising the cap, but I don't think any of those would have an /airquotes "complete feel" to it while still being stuck at 50 which doesn't feel quite mature enough to be end game-ish.

I'm reluctant to play the game for level 50 gear when there's level 90+ mobs roaming around the core area. I also believe it would be kind of crappy to develop real "end game" content for level 50 when it doesn't feel like an "end game" level. To me, level cap raises mean better content besides these dungeons and primals to keep us busy until they are ready for it.

That said, I don't see the point in raising the level cap any time soon. I could understand if leveling were quest-based and more levels meant more story, but we'd be leveling just for the sake of leveling. Leveling in XIV, as in XI, is a very dull experience.
Leveling in XIV is nowhere as dull as leveling in was in XI.

Its in fact even duller... without any challenge whatsoever on exp mobs and no need to employ battle tactis, XIV is one of the most boring MMORPGs to grind levels in..

XI was a grind in that it took a long time to level up, but the actual experience of party play etc was often very enjoyable to many, in XIV it just feels like a mindless repetetive grind even if you get levels faster...

Grinding solo, in pt or doing repetetive leves, its the same few combos over and over and over again, no skill, no tacic, no risk-reward choices and no party tactics needed for leveling(an exp party in XIV is more like 8 people soloing togheter then actual team work).

I dislike the quest hub style of leveling that WoW and its clones, but I still would prefer that any day over grinding in XIV, at least they try to be entertaining with quest stories, events and most of all variation and sometimes even challenge.

On topic, I doubt we will see a level cap increase any time soon, because why would the obsolete what little content we have by making us outlevel it?
As others said I would'nt expect a level cap raise until at earliest 2.0 but most likely we could expect to see one within a year from now.

To clarify however, both XI and XIV for the most part where terrible grinds which offered little in regards of fun and excitement, but for me XI is the lesser evil due to that you at least had to put some effort into winning your fight, aka earning your exp.

If only XIV could take on a more single player aproach to leveling (while keeping valid party play options incorporated), let us do intressting thigns to earn our exp and fight badass mobs, and not slaughter scores of marmots, coblyns and dodos etc.

And you have to agree that leve quests are one of the most repetetive boring way to level ever put into a MMORPG.
Its the same few quests over and over again with no backstory, no context and just sligthly varied enemies and locale.
