Not if the world is full. For example; I started the CE on Selbina, but it filled up too fast, so my rl friend that started the game after the CE ten days could not create a char on Selbina with me. I had to ultimately re-roll to be on the same server as him.

I have similar question, not sure is there info somewhere. After merge, can I freely reroll from beginning on whatever server - or do they stay locked except the rock.

I would assume so, it's not like they're gonna close off the servers to new players.

Hmmm... I haven't been on yet to check, but my friend says there are a lot more people. ^^

I'm hoping that eventually we will be able to pay for server merges, like this game's predecessor, FF That Shall Not Be Named Online

To answer the original posters question which noone seems to have understood. Yes they will probably be doing server transfers for players (probably not merges) again at some point in the future after 2.0 is released, a lot of players will be coming back to the game then who will have missed the oportunity to change servers this time around. I am sure this wont be the only server transfers they ever allow.
