Buying and selling to me should be something i can do fast, and it has to be simple. The MW are not. I dont want a "i go shopping rpg". And to the crafters (i do craft as well) who complain about dropping prizes:
Produce what is needed then you will have less problems with the prizes in the long run. Too many ppl are overproducing and wonder why prizes drop... And ppl undercut in the MW as well, ppl checking YG and similar sites for average prices. You have the AH online already. And i bet many ppl defending the MW using it too.
RMT are there anyways, no matter if AH or MW. So they will always destroy a certain part of the game economy, one cant do much about it. But its no use to have something for sale if too many ppl are just not willing to put so much time into just checking prizes. they will just craft the items themselves or not bother playing - which is what is happening a lot, and the AH is a bigger issue then most MW defenders think. FFXIV due to the fact that theres not much to do but crafting, already has a majority of sellers lol. Not that many buyers. So unless we get tons of new players who are not that crafting oriented and more content worth spending the time on, there wont be heaven for sellers anyways, no matter if its with an AH or MW.
And i really dont know where "the market wards are working just fine" is coming from. Crashes, slow loading NPCS (that vanish if you go a few more steps since the engine cant even handle a full tiny MW room completely- no its not my pc -),
and there is no nice feeling of "goin to a market" where you buy from npc shops. The MW are either empty or so crowded that its not even close to a role-playing shopping experience. Its not looking nice, theres no atmosphere.
If marketwards were like huge areas with different shops, and a mix of npc and retainers (who actually set up tents and such) with the typical market wards sounds, and noises... perhaps some musicians or quest npcs mixed in, well that would at least be a nice experience imho.
But sadly its far from that and will never be like it. Im all for nice RP-elements if they are well thought through and add a lot to the atmosphere and the depth of a game.
Actually i would love to have big market areas in every city where its just fun to walk through, watch scenery, see crafters, sellers, npcs, npc children running around, perhaps npcs with variable prizes as well...
But im not sure why the current system is defended at all. It IS a broken AH. just that you "go into the AH- counter" and realize there is just too much that is not working...
If it worked, the few ppl still playing wouldnt stand around all day long bazaaring still.
We already have the bazaar function. AH + bazaar ... that at least works. B
azaar + instanced bazaar on retainers... with a clunky search feature and crashes = no thanks.
its funny that some ppl still think that the retainers are an invention. Its the bazaar feature in an instanced box. With some kind of broken AH interface implemented on top of them.
Its sad but true. A lot of things in FFXIV are not new, or are innovative. They just look different (sometimes) and well... often don't work well or not at all.
