This first raid is pretty notable in how little it tells you of what's actually going on. It should be safe to play even without having finished all the main Nier: Automata endings.

If the raid series IS intended to be a "canon sequel" to Nier: Automata, I can't vouch for the future raids, of course. But you have quite a while until the next one is released.

Only that's not what happens in NieR: Automata... 9S is a protagonist in that game... 9S being a boss is an example of how the YoRHa raid is different from NieR. Not how it is similar.

Well, as I noted in a previous post...

Actually, 9S's "villainy" here, if that's what it is and not a giant misunderstanding, is quite reminiscent of his breaking down during the third playthrough of Nier: Automata. He was... not a very nice guy, in the wake of 2B's death, and even after he learned the truth was too driven by rage and grief to stop his rampage. Heck, he's even a "boss", if you choose A2's route at the end.

I do agree, though, that it's still a stretch to say that angry!9S is a spoiler for the original game, just because he gets angry there, too.

Oh! I agree that this angry 9S fits very well with how he is after 2B died. I am very partial to the theory that the raid is happening with a post-Route C 9S.

However, finding the 2B (not 2P!) corpses later on makes me wonder if this is NieR:A 9S or another character with the same name. One that went through something similar, but not exactly the same as NieR: A 9S did. So I think it's too early to say that the mental state of characters at the end of NieR: A flows directing into the characterization of characters in the raid.

Currently, I'm wondering if the Tower and the Factory settings were swapped in the backstory (as if 9S fought a corrupted YoRHa up the Factory instead of the Tower), and it's like we're coming in on A2's side of the boss battle verses 9S in the Tower. Only instead of it being A2, it's 2P. And now we'll spend the rest of the raid figuring out how we got here...
