Unfortunately it was undermined by a very snooty, pretentious beginning that made me not even want to bother reading the rest of it.

The whole adage of being able to catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar comes to mind.

Sadly, a representation of the average player right here. Somehow you've played the game for nearly 6 years but you're finding this GATE too hard and can't even begin to work out how to do it.
Someone comes along with a very helpful and completely non-aggressive post and somehow you take it as a slight and continue on in ignorance, completely full of self-righteousness.

Honestly can't believe anyone would rather have skinchange back.

I also think it is really fun, requires a bit of skill but should be achievable for the most part after a few tries. You just have to actively pay attention unlike most GATES.
You can ignore the 4 piles of gold, but the 3 cups part is RNG.

For the 4 piles of gold, I move to one that is far from other piles and if Daigoro faces a different one I take it. (if you're slow and your pile is the second one charged, you have more time to bail)
If he faces your pile, give up. Pretty easy and low-risk to get 1000 MGP there.

For the last phase with 4 bamboo poles, I just stay near the edges and focus on dodging the nearest 2 before worrying about the others, I've seen some sides without any safe spots so I think some rng comes into play. (or maybe just a really small one?)

Play as ninja since it has increase movement speed. I don't think traits are disabled.

All in all, it gives a nice amount of MGP and is fun

• First round - 1000 MGP
• Piles of Gold - 1000 MGP each
• Second Round - 2000 MGP
• Three Cups - Doubles your MGP (Gold Pile)
• Last Round - 2000 MGP

EDIT: I think if you can follow the cups up to the point where they go back into the middle and spin quickly you can guess it correctly. I've tried it twice and it worked for the gold pile, but I could have just been getting really lucky.

Considering you said "It feels totally random", yeah, that was a fair presumption to make.

Considering I then also said "even though I know it can't be", I feel like the fair counter-presumption to make here is that you can't read very well, or are otherwise fond of cherry-picking statements in an attempt to ridicule others.

That's why I included all that helpful information for you instead of just making a snide comment and leaving it at that.

I don't know how to see the difference between all of those (especially not as quickly as the GATE seems to expect you to be able to), so frankly, it still isn't helpful, although I still recognize that you at least tried.

I finally beat it once, best strat I found was to stay relatively close to the pillars to check them quicker and then leg it to a safe spot, it's not too consistent but it beats getting blindsided standing around the edge or the arena. Now to pull it off 9 more times for the title.

I personally like this GATE. Its more suspenseful than the Any Way the Wind Blows GATE and utilizes your reflexes/observational skills. There still is an element of luck that is mostly out of your hands (the 3 cup shuffle), but so long as you can quickly identify the cuts on the bamboos, you usually can identify a lot of the areas of where not to stand. I've managed to get through to the end once (though I've only played it 3 times), but once you do this enough to immediately identify how each bamboo will fall (however long it takes you to), your odds of surviving go up (like anything else). Like if a bamboo you are standing by has several cuts, you need to immediately move away, or if it has a vertical cut, you should be lined-up with the cut as the bamboo will split and fall to the sides. The single-diagonal cut one is probably the easiest telegraph, because not only is this a recycled "mechanic" from the Ivalice raids, but the telegraph of where the line AoE will go is fairly predictable.

Can you just ignore Daigoro and stay out of his way to pass the 2nd phase? I don't care about the MGP, I just want the achievement.

The one with the multiple piles of gold? Pretty sure you can, just don't be next to a pile of gold and not between him and his next target pile (which he will face before jumping).

I think if you can follow the cups up to the point where they go back into the middle and spin quickly you can guess it correctly. I've tried it twice thrice and successfully got the gold pile every time, but I could have just gotten lucky.

You'd need a much bigger sample size to say with any certainty that 'beating' a one-in-three chance mechanic is successful and not just normal luck.

I don't think it's intended to be possible to follow the three cups. It looks like an indicator of "this is random" to me.

The fact that you're sitting here arguing with people and acting butt-hurt over these perceived slights, instead of digesting the extremely detailed and helpful information provided to you, make it pretty clear that you prefer blaming others for your own shortcomings over trying to improve yourself. Tbh it might even be part of the reason you're struggling with this GATE so much. Instead of feeling upset and retreating into a shell of self-pity, how about taking a look at the information the game (and the first person who replied to you) provides you and figuring out how to do better next time instead?
