Whilst I agree on more customisation options in terms of facial hair would be great to add. And yes we have asked for more customisation options. But at the same time, having access to more glamour items /is/ adding more customisation, albeit in what you character can wear, rather than facial features, but it is one of the things that has been asked for.

Plus un-genderlocking gear would take less in terms of resources because the assets required already exist, it's more they're adjusting them and applying them to additional models. Whether it's putting existing image data onto a different texture map or adjusting the mesh and weightings to a different 3D model - though obviously I don' know SE's asset workflow, but from having formerly done 3D modelling as a hobby I can think about how I might do it, and arguably it is easier & quicker to adjust mesh and texture data onto a new 3D model than it is to create new stuff from scratch.

But even then, I'd say it's not that much harder to add facial hair either if you know what you're doing, but I guess it's possible they need people with a different skill set. You don't need somebody artistic to handle adjusting existing assets (just somebody who knows the software and workflow), whereas for adding more facial options, you would. For example, when I did it as a hobby, if I was the guy doing it, the facial hair options I'd add would look awful, texturing was my 1 weakness and my UV mapping was passable at best. It takes a different skillset.

Unfortunately the resources are already spent on this no going back or it would be a true waste of resources since it wouldn't benefit anyone at that point. This removing of genderlock gear has been requested as much as new customization for characters, i think the only difference between the two requests is how aware the devs are on the demand as bare in mind Yoshi P was shocked so many people wanted the WoL stubble from the trailer(something none of us would really be shocked by since we know how requested it is in the community).

It is possible they won't release all these yet until they sort out more of the current male exclusives for female characters like the Butler suit whose counterpart is already done for males, just that overall if they sort all of them out it will be more glamour for male characters than female ones because they are more female exclusive ones than male exclusive

I'll advise holding off on that as currently the ones done have all been obtained from somewhere else before the mog station(if they go up there anyway) rather than mog station exclusive outfits.

I would not call current Viera/Hrothgar in a finished state but this is not a true waste of resources, some people will be happy with these, some won't care, but because some would want these it is not a waste only to your own perception they are seen as a waste, an example of a true waste of resources would be Battle Diadem since it is gone.

I wanna see that. Male Au Ra head slapped ontop of Minfilia's well endowed body.

Random stuff is their priority though, like this thread's allowing males to wear dresses. Literally pointless. They have to fit each and every one of those sets on each and every male body... why? Very few people would seriously wear something like that, and most who do are just wearing it because of how dumb it looks it's funny.
I think you are narrowing the skope a bit to far here. I know many people who play male characters who are excited about being able to wear certain female only gear. Not all female gear is dresses, playing as one you should know this. Yes the wedding dress is going to be available, but there are a lot of female only tops that are not dresses that have no reason being female only. I for one am mostly looking forward to being able to use Y'Shtola and Lightnings hair (if and when they unlock mogstation gear for this), but both of their outfits have pieces that I would like to use as a male character. They aren't overly feminine or frilly and would be nice to use for mix and match outfits.

There shouldn't have been gender locked gear to begin with, it was never a thing until ARR and people have been asking for them to un-gender lock said items since then. Yes it may be a "waste of resources" to some, but they wouldn't be in this situation if they had just made everything gender neutral to begin with.

I see no one read the Interview where Yoshi said he was going to make more outfits available towards men. And why he chose that. It was actually a really sweet story.
" To touch on the second part of your question about gender restrictions, first and foremost, I think there should be freedom in your values when it comes to the different genders. We don’t want to restrict attire and clothing that you wear based on characters’ gender or sex.

    ...

Let me give an example: I was heading to the office on a Saturday and I saw a situation that made me very sad. I was trying to go into the office and I was waiting at a red light. I saw a high schooler coming from the other side of the road in their school uniform. It seemed that they were biologically male at birth but they were wearing a sailor fuku, which is traditionally female attire. In Japanese high schools, there’s more and more schools that are accommodating for freedom of not being restricted to a specific gender for your uniform...That person probably wanted to present the gender they identified with in their heart...On the other side of the road was a mother and a daughter. The daughter was perhaps 5 years old. As soon as the mother saw the high schooler, she shielded her daughter as if she didn’t want her daughter to see. The high schooler must have been very hurt. Situations like these still happen and there’s areas where there’s not as much understanding.

    ...

That being said, we want to address this, and I think it will be gradual...For instance, for the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, we’ve already started to make adjustments. Once we officially release this, you won’t have gender restrictions. If you both wanted to wear a dress, that’s perfectly fine. If you want to both wear the tuxedo, that would also be fine...That’s not available in game yet, but we have done the preparations for it."

I realise some will find the concept 'weird', but I see nothing wrong with drag, even before there were any kind of gender issues attached to it, it has has been a long existing form of entertainment. And hey we weirdo roleplayers still make up a portion of the player base..
That's fine and dandy but for those of us who don't want to run around in drag we should have the option not too. I was cringing at the thought of not being able to wear the Yorha gear without glaming over it because they were going to put my giant masculine Hrothgar frame into a little dress designed for a petite woman.

If you want to do drag, that's fine, you do you. But let me do me too. Some outfits just do not look right on men or women because the shape of the body is completely different so forcing male frames into female attire and vice versa should not be the go to. If you want options, that's fine, but since the minority of ppl would want to cross dress it shouldn't be forced on the majority so they can wokewash the game and appease a handful of players.

And it takes tremendous resources to reshape outfits to the various body types, so if they only do a handful and put much needed resources elsewhere, that's completely fine with me. Cause they would literally have to create 2 outfits for each sex and then reshape each of them twice the amount they do now, when they could give us a new dungeon or fight or w/e else with those same resources, which is frankly much more important to the overall health of the game.

Erm hate to break it to you but you have been able to have many many options for years to not look like your in drag, in fact those who wanted female looking outfits have been incredibly sparce in the game, robes and stuff on casters/healers guess what during the rough time period Eorzea is based on men wore a lot of robes more than women did as it was a symbol of status. So all this is just giving those that want to be in drag more options you already have far far more options to not be.

Correct some do not suit a masculine frame just like some don't suit a feminine frame but there is a thing called glamour look it up may help and again most outfits are designed properly with the odd one standing out(Shiva set, Genji set etc) , and lastly the very big key question you need to answer, How are you forced to cross dress?

Now a proper point, these did take resources from something else but what none of us save the dev team can truly answer, but if i had to guess it would be they decided to do this over fitting old headgear on Viera/Hrothgar was this a good call no idea Viera/Hrothgar could certainly use the love but this has a bigger net due to effecting every race not just 2. I doubt would take from dungeon/fight design as dungeons apparently go to their newer battle people while trials/raids/ultimates go to the more senior members and this would be vastly different skillset to encounter design as a whole. One last potential this could've been done on their own time for all we know they've made no official call on these outfits as bare in mind they are just data atm not unlocked to the public.

No one's being forced to wear these and your options aren't being taken away.

Why are you upset over people having options you never intend on using?
