And to that, I agree. We already have reskins of gear used on different classes. The new DoH one is a dyeable version of the caster/healer gear from Saint Mocianne's Arboretum.

This is a really odd argument admittedly given that
A) real-life parallels are a silly thing to make in this, a fantasy game where we destroy monsters using swords,
B) the glamour system ALREADY allows for this exact thing because visual differentiation of jobs based on their looks is almost completely unimportant and currently borderline non-extant,
C) citing past series experience is super odd given that the 'iconic look' has basically been defunct as a concept ever since you could put !Dualcast on a Mime back in 1992,
D) you can already make bootleg versions of job-specific glamours anyway? You realllllly didn't see the litany of knockoff RDM glamours after it got announced for Stormblood?
Even using red mage itself as it makes it pretty free to poke holes in it- there's the company hat, the storm lieutenant's tricorne, the demon or eikon cloth hat of aiming, and that's just the headpiece? There's outright several options for a red ruffled shirt and thighboots.
If you wanna be able to tell what job someone's using, just look at their job icon in the party list. After that, who cares what they're wearing? Unless you're really, really going to draw lines in the sand over 'sure, you can tank the 24-man completely naked, but how DARE you try to do it in a white mage robe? that'll confuse the newbies that don't know how to look at the party list!'

Ok man you're just trying way too hard now -.-
Anyway, SE does this and I wont ask for anything ever, including auto-pass.

and yet you cant wear amons hat, a big red one with a massive white feather. sucks doesnt it?[FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"][SIZE="3"]This topic again? I would accept mix and match for random stuff, but now you even want artifact gear to be mixable? What the heck? Artifact armor should and hopefully will ever be restricted. Red Mage is identified by their colour and tricorne with a white feather since 1987, and it should be like that "forever".
Everything else? Whatever, but this "mix and match" is rather.. I don't know, I don't like it.

There's also the Tricorne of Striking/Scouting from the Heavensward leveling dungeons (and their craftable counterparts). There's a good chunk of gear that fits RDM's aesthetic that they can't glamour because of job restrictions. Other examples include the Coat of the Red Thief, Sky Pirate's Boots of Striking (AKA my dream boots), and the Alexandrian Coat of Healing.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

I remember back the day before they locked accessories to roles I was in an A5S learning party and I noticed the Ninja has a huge amount of HP, turns out he was wearing tanking accessories. Even more so remember people wearing gathering too
Now imagine if they removed role restrictions from left side gear so people can use it as glam, it would mean that people would actually be able to equip gear with the wrong stats(Dex on tanks, INT on Healers) and you know it will happen too.I don’t want this to happen.
