Please give more mounts a different piece of music past Borderless.

Listen I like Borderless (the HW mount theme) as much as everyone else but so many mounts are using that as the main song, even when there's song that work out much much better for them. I mean this more so for the mounts that are a total grind working for.

Demi-Ozma uses it but you could actually use a song from BA like Onslaught or Turmoil. Many of the PVP mounts could really use the actual song tied to the mode, the Magitek Avengers w/ Rival Wings music, the Nodes and Starved etc. Hell the Feast Top 100 mounts still use Borderless, when you could honestly have a song like Dangertek play for it instead to better relate with Feast.

The Gold Saucer Sabotender managed to finally get Four Sided Circle (Gold Saucer theme) I believe in 5.0. So I know they're actively looking to make these mounts match the content to a point albeit only specific ones.

Not every mount is going to make sense to switch the music with, but even if there's an issue changing the old ones I think it would be nice to look forward and switch the songs around to better fit the mounts we get especially if we worked so hard to get them. I do like listening to the field music, but sometimes when I get on a mount like Alte Roite and hear Final Not Final, it reminds me of the journey it was to get it in the first place.

I too get weary of the same mount music, so I often just turn it off completely which is a shame since it means I miss out on the unique mount music pieces I do enjoy.

They've been asked this during a live letter before. Their response was that they have a limited amount of space allotted for mount music, and they were running out, which is why the generic theme plays for mounts you'd think should have songs relevant to how they're obtained.

This makes very little sense considering every expansion they add in 3 Savage mounts and 7 primal mounts with unique themes. And the final primal mount (e.g., Kirin, Firebird, Kamuy of the Nine Tails) also has a unique song. Clearly, they’re coming up with the space somewhere.

It's what Soken claimed. It's possible specific mounts (primals, savage, etc.) are always planned out space-wise to have a particular theme, but they don't have much wiggle room when it comes to changing it for existing mounts. That's purely speculation, since the question he answered was about changing an *existing* mount's music.

I have a lot of respect for Soken—and the developers as a whole—but they also once said that the external DLC minions had to go to single character only because they were running low on account-wide keys...and then in the same month released 3 account-wide mounts on the cash shop. They’ve also changed existing mount music before: the Gobwalker from A4S used to play the default theme, and I believe there was another Savage Mount that repeated this (Alte Roite from O4S, maybe?). Both of these mounts had their music changed to reflect the respective tiers. And, as pointed out prior, cash shop mounts had their music changed from Borderless.

So pardon my skepticism.

That doesn't make sense since they actually replaced a bunch of the mogstation cash mounts (which used Borderless) with the early floor song of PoTD and Horizon's Call. Add in that more mounts keep getting added with some like the Namazu Mikoshi and Amaro using their own songs and it's basically cherry picking from that point.

Should be a thing instead of having 2 separate things for no real reason.

What my suggestion is referring more to is doing away with the mount song system and just allow for players the option to access their songs directly via the roll menu, similar to a radio. If its still a 'coding' issue or whatever, just have it as a portable playlist that players can pick from their rolls before heading out into the world that they can switch between in the field. You're honestly dealing with less demand vs having 20+ songs that need to be ready to go incase someone wants to switch between 20 mounts for w/e reason. As for 'special' songs associated with mounts that players might not already have outside of the mount, just send them a roll to learn, problem solved.

It'd be nice, but remember these are the same people who announced a couple of months ago you can now eat food while sitting. I think the concept of a portable player would be far out of their mindscape especially with the restrictions we already have while mounted for other things. Also consider that a concept like that does in some ways lessens the value of the mounts the song is associated with. I mean we're seeing it in this thread alone people are shocked to know the Amaro plays a song akin to Chrono Cross in the porter theme, a breath of fresh air for a reward that's time consuming to get.

That last option though ooooof, that's a nasty way of gating people off from collecting the orchestrion rolls especially if it's tied directly to savage drops. The market would go nuts and completely destroy the fantastic system they had in Stormblood trading drops from the first tier for the savage version of the fourth fight.

I was surprised the Amaro had unique music. it's gotten to the point I assume every mount will have Borderless...

I really think The CE mounts should also have unique music. paying extra for a mount the same song...
