Never played Nier so the raid didn't do much for me. Mechanically it was fun, but overall the story isn't that interesting yet.

I liked the raid and the story seems nice. The mechanics were really fun to read and understand, and visually it's probably my favorite raid for the first tier of all our 24 mans atm since labrynth is pretty bleh, void ark gets a lil alien-esque looking, and SB's was a lot of desert. Though I have to say, I've never played Neir, prolly never will, and I don't understand most of what's going on as far as the character's intentions in the plot.
It was absolutely beautiful. The fights themselves were easy to grasp and maneuver around. I would have liked to see it be a little more difficult, but maybe we'll get that in the next two. It would have been nice to have more story, but exploration mode of Copied Factory was a delightful surprise. Now I want a UI Skin in the manner of Automata.
Precisely why, upon hearing about the new raid at the Fan Fests, I went out and played Neir Automata so I would now what was going on.
I'm now a bit of a Nier fan and hugely enjoyed the raid.
I did think it seemed a bit easy though, in comparison to Rabanastre.
Hard to compare it to Void Ark and Labyrinth though as that's 2 and 3 generations earlier.

Next one needs a Duty Action you need to spam to fire the pods, 24 different pods firing at a boss to bring it down in a QTE.
They should made it where part boss fights you flew around in those battle suits attacking the boss and normal monsters in there like real Nier game. Those fights was best thing about Nier game.
I like the music and the nier nostalgia, but I have questions... Some may have been answered in the quests leading up but honestly I was paying only half attention, those dwarves were annoying as all get out and I just wanted to be done with them. This whole thing just seemed like such a big break from established lore and plausibility that it just sticks out like a sore thumb. At least they fit Ivalice into the world and its lore, this is just out of no where.
So did this giant robotics factory just exist this whole time without anyone in the world noticing? Even after it was spared the flood?
Is it in the mountain? Whether it is or not it had to be spotted at some point by someone since there is clear sky overhead.
How is it that there are androids this advanced but the ppl can barely get a giant rock to function.
Why did we have to come here from another world, these androids could have easily taken out the light wardens without having to worry about being corrupted.
How come the flora is unique to the area? Is an area that large and apparently that open to the outside world really that contained..
There is more but that's off the top of my head
Unless these are answered by the post raid quest exploration stuff (that I intend to do but haven't found the time for yet), I don't think we really have a clear idea on what the heck is going on yet. Hopefully part 2 sheds more light.I like the music and the nier nostalgia, but I have questions... Yea, we really have no clue about what is really going on in that copied factory yet. The sky itself might not even be real, it could be an entirely environmentally controlled area with a false skybox.
Music was cool, boss mechanics as well. But I am not a big fan of the raid aesthetic, the tank boss design and the gundam wing fight with the strange boy at the end.
Since I never played Nier I have no clue what is going on and why that little boy is trying to kill the woman in white. It is also unclear why those two are there to begin with and who those dead people in one of the rooms were and why they are dead. Hope we learn more in future patches. Right now the raid feels very diconnected from FFXIV, at least to me.
The dwarfes were cute though. I like them xD
