I was a bit surprised by the number of new mechanic markers in the raid.

Some of them are just making existing mechanics less vague now, though, which is always welcome (IE, the chasing AoEs at Engels which were previously denoted with the generic "bad stuff is coming" marker).

I have never played the series so the setting and characters make little sense to me. It seemed just like a random side story with the dwarves and lots of robots. I did like that the cutscenes were much shorter which makes things a bit more mysterious compared to the extremely cutscene/exposition heavy Ivalice raids.

Mechanics were a bit different but nothing too outrageous after learning. The raid felt like it went by very quickly with less running between bosses and less trash? Maybe thats just me.

The final boss music was pretty and was lucky enough to get the orchestrion on my first clear.

Like I said on the third page, it's most likely all taking place inside the mountain/underground. It's called the Copied Factory, which means that everything (sky included) beyond the door leading to the factory is a copy of a specific part of planet Earth. Interestingly enough, the sun itself also kinda supports my theory, as its position doesn't make sense. In the Factory, it's to the north west, yet Norvrandt/Eorzea is a little to the north of the Shards/Hydaelyn's equator (meaning it should be to the south/behind us in the raid). If we were really facing east (the direction we're facing when entering the excavation sight), then it makes even less sense for the suns position, as it cannot be to our west. Any other direction just makes me wonder how far/deep the excavation sight really is.

Not a fan of too dark themes, not that much into post-apocalyptic vistas, because there are a lot of them where I live. I've never played a Nier game, nor do I intend to. Yet I loved the raid! Checked the YoRHa story, put on my most colorful outfit to compensate for the gloominess and had a blast. The weirdest thing was feeling like walking outside the office where I work - it's full of old factory buildings and rusty metal. The worst that happened was that I won a 2B gear coffer and felt guilty after I found out all the parts look terrible on this body, 2B fans deserved it far more, I'm so sorry.

    Pink-haired protagonist: I don’t understand!
Purple-haired antagonist: You don’t need to!
    – All the explanation you need for a (Final) fantasy story.

Don't think I'll be queuing for this one any time soon.
It just has a lot going on, and SE may be pushing the limits of human situational awareness in this raid, especially with the second boss where you have to rotate the camera to know what mechanics are coming, all the while trying to keep tabs on the boss itself when it does its own thing. You will learn the fight, given enough runs.

What frustrates me though is when I die, I'm on the floor for a long time, as is most other people who die.

I really enjoyed Nier: Automata when I played it. As for thoughts on this crossover raid itself, well I enjoyed the actual fighting well enough for a 24-man. On the whole though I found it a tad underwhelming.

The story so far is meh, I still don't really understand my motivation for just charging in blindly after a person I've never met.
I think 2P should have explained herself a bit, or the machines should have been presented as a more immediate threat, because at the minute I feel like I've just backed the first person I randomly stumbled across and joined them in smashing up a load of robots for no real reason.

Still, most raid stories are a bit naff at first and only really get going in the last tier.

Also not a fan of how massively different the gear is depending on whether you're a male or female character. Especially as I prefer most of the male designs.

It's fun, but I'm a bit concerned that none of the Nier raids will exceed Rabanastre in difficulty based on their comments.

I've not played Nier but I still found the overall design pretty rad. I'm more curious about what its lore explanation is going to be.

So far the Copied Factory has taught me that my UI isn't optimal.

    Things I need to change:
Turn off or limit spell effects for non-party members. My main has settings right but it's literally impossible to see some effects on my alt through all the raid's spells.
Move target's cast bar. Need to figure out how to do this because reading the incoming abilities is so important here.

My least favorite mechanic is the slams on the second to last boss. I can't read them, I have to just follow the raid and I don't know if it's just because they've memorized the pattern or if there's a tell that lets you know which move is next. If it's a static pattern and just memory, then there should be a telegraph on the ground indicating it. If there's a tell I think it should be more pronounced.

Overall, I like the bullet hell mechanics (but I play Aiming), and I like that the raid doesn't have too much trash.

^ make a separate chatlog and filter only for battle things. That's what I did. gotta get used to looking at it though
Also remember the enmity list will display cast bars.
