Thread: Black screen at launcher

Been getting a black screen when I try to open the launcher. Bever had an issue before till yesterday's patch. Scrolled through the forums and tried a few things I found on previous posts. Currently on wifi as running an cable is not possible.

Tried adjusting several settings in internet explorer. Tried resetting the IE settings as well.

Are you connected directly to the router are you using WiFi? Is the Final Fantasy XIV game application allowed through the fire wall? Please also try the following:

- Port Forward – open the following ports ranges on your router:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
These are remote ports in your router’s firewall. They designate what can send information to your PC and what cannot. These specific ports are used by the game to connect to the local client.

not sure how to do that but will give it a try. not sure it will work since my wifi is through comcast pods that boost the signal through my house.
the game is allowed thru the firewall, never had an issue till this last patch.

try switching to the old version (dark color) of the launcher. The new launcher has many UI issues on my PC.

How do I do that?
All I get is a solid black window with nothing to click on.
