With NG+, you don’t have to slog through ARR just to relive HW. Or slog through ARR and HW for SB. Or all three for ShB. Not to mention you can’t redo the story any other way on your main character, so that’s what NG+ is made for.

And in time it should also include job quests from what I've gathered, which will be a boon to those people who used potions to catch up to their friends but don't have the time to invest in a completely new character.
For job quests it will also be nice to be able to go through them one after the other without several levels worth of other stuff between each one. Removing the need to start each quest trying to remind ourselves what had been going on in the previous ones should improve the flow of the stories.
I get what it's for. It just serves no purpose for me. i have no desire to rerun the story on my main unless it is a good way to get alt job experience. the story is the same whether i run it on an alt character or an alt job. but only one of those will give quest experience. ...i'm going to emphasize "for me". Which is why I can see the OP's point. You can find all the purpose in it you want.
It's so weird. People like you and I are like "Hey, we get that you guys are cool with just reliving the story with no reward." That's fine. Have fun! I'm happy it exists and wouldn't want it to disappear. But people on the other side are all "how dare you expect EXP from an MMO. It's so strange.I get what it's for. Yeah. Somebody down there was talking about people spamming them to level. Which is pretty funny since the rewards are all level specific. There would be no point in running it over and over on the same job since the xp rewards would be sooo small it would take forever once you are past the level appropriate content. Not that this game has never made it so you only got bonuses one time per job before. And the people who complain about getting xp more than once from the same content, must not run roulettes or do the beast tribe quests.
Doing the first 20 quests of ShB allot you about 10 million experience, which is only a little less than what Mt. Gulg gives a level 79 player. It is all dialogue, minimal combat, easy for people to spam click ESC through everything.Yeah. Somebody down there was talking about people spamming them to level. which is why I mentioned a "once per job" flag not being unheard of in this game.
