I was really looking forward to leveling alt jobs with this. But...now we know we can't.

So my question is this;

Is anyone really going to use this?

I mean, sure it'd be nice to go back maybe a year or so from now to redo some of the final moments from ShB or HW. But, the real excitement for me personally was to be able to use this to level alts AND relive the story.

But, since it only has the function of...basically a glorified bedroom journal, who is the target for this?

I really feel it'd get more use from everyone if it simply offered EXP.

Am I alone in this?

They said it wouldn't give exp, it was just so people could relive the story without leveling alts.

It’s exactly what I wanted a way to re experience the story as it was not via Inn cut scenes.

I don't usually like redoing quests in general, which is why I support having multiple jobs in one character. Every time I create another character since Stormblood, I would use the MSQ potion since I've read and watched and done everything on my first playthrough (and continue to read, watch, and do everything on present and future playthrough).

So, NG+ was never really something I would use regardless. That said, with the upcoming change in 5.3, I may use it just to see how they change ARR.

It was never stated that New Game+ would ever offer experience. Even when it was first announced pre-Shadowbringers release. The most recent PLLs confirmed that it’s just to relive quests that we have already done.

So my question is this;

Is anyone really going to use this?

Absolutely. I’ve been eagerly waiting for NG+ to be implemented so that I can go back and do Shadowbringers again on my main character. I have plans already to do it with two friends of mine, one of whom is transferring from another data center just so that they can play FFXIV with me.

People have been asking for the option to redo previously completed quests for a while now. The first time I personally saw these requests made was during Heavensward, where players were saying they wanted to go back and redo things like the 30~50 DRK storyline, the level 50 DRK instance, and even the 3.1 Grand Melee.

New Game+ is targeted towards these people.

Is anyone really going to use this?

I never really understood the mindset of people that ask stuff like this, or maybe I do and don't want to think how egotistical some people can be. There are several that make alts in this game for the sole reason of replaying the story (I recommend playing the story as a lala if you haven't, its a good laugh).

In terms of development, this isn't realistically wasting resources since the team admitted that they are revamping the ARR story experience as well, so its pretty much just giving people something minor as they are working on something bigger at the same time.

Just because there's something that people don't personally interact with/feel is necessary, doesn't mean it shouldn't be added, especially if the team isn't sacrificing something 'bigger' for it like a dungeon delay etc.

I wasn't going to use it anyway because I'd rather just use another character, but I never once expected we would get EXP or any other reward from this and it still boggles my mind that anyone else thought otherwise.

Very much as HyoMinPark says.

There's quests and story lines people want to relive, that's the incentive behind it. When it's dungeons and trials you like you can just queue for it, but the rest of the story content you can only do once per character and rewatch cutscenes. Or at least until now.

Personally I don't see the need for any other incentive.
