And what if you cant? What if you are so sick that you wont be able to log in just for one day? What if you are at work and have to travel around the world for it and because of all the time you needed for the journey alone would have lost you your home? Suddenly hours and hours of work and huge amount of Gils will be gone.

I really wonder how people who want such harsh punishments would react if they suddenly are losing their house to it..

If housing is your endgame you just have to transfer. EU has two new worlds that has larges and mediums for all the people crying about housing. If housing is more important than friends (as these rage topics tend to give the idea of) then just transfer or as someone said above be smart and get good.

In the past two years I've had multiple mediums and one large, and now a dream medium plot. If you aren't actively even trying to find a house other than waiting for these patches and new wards then you are not even trying. It doesn't take two years to prepare to relocate if you just wait for a more housing wards... people should stop making these topics if these new wards are all you put your hopes on. Back in the day I would check the city aetheryte every time I have a chance (which is how I once found a large) and that is how you do it. Or be rich and buy of the house market reddit but these crying topics and people in them are making me wonder what you guys doing so wrong when after many years you are still trying to get a better than that average small plot if even that.

Doesn't need an overhaul, it just needs to go back to the original prices.

Is sharing personal housing between alts even a common feature in most MMORPGs?

Its about as common as not tying housing to an instanced system.

EQ uses persistent housing in housing districts, but you can give full permissions to anyone, even alts. It also has one real use: displaying trophies to get 4 passive buffs. It can also be a tradeskill hub (irrelevant since every main city is also a tradeskill hub) and weapon storage (via displaying them on the walls).

Most everyone else uses instanced housing thats character specific. 14 is the only game that handles housing the way they do.

Rift allowed alts to enter and even place objects in their houses. Swtor went as far as allowing you to even smuggle the opposing faction into an alt's house and place things (it did cost a small in game fee in credits to move your imperial character to your Republic alt's house and vice versa). So...yes, house ownership being an account wide thing, is very much real and multiple games do it.

But SE's always had issues with seeing alts as an extension of a main character. Even in FF11 they were basically considered separate accounts even though it was all technically on the same account.

Unlike other mmo's like Rift, WoW, and SWToR who automatically add your alts to your mailing list.

    More Housing

Please, is there any chance of getting more housing? Housing resources can't be that hard on servers... and by having such a small number of housing units, many of us can't cross breed plants, which is part of the game!!! The housing shortage is actually preventing us from playing a designed part of FFXIV.

I'd be happy with an apartment with maybe 2 floors where you can put a small or large planter in.

There are certain aspects of the game some players will never get to experience just simply because they don't own a house and that isn't right.

Especially when you go to worlds and see the people who have bought out entire wards by themselves.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    It almost like real life.

Which sounds like something FFXIV is not.

I know you mean something along the lines of immersion often comes from mimics of real life but... obviously where to draw that line is really personal. Making an example of real life property in a super magical, mmo no less, game makes me roll my eyes (though wont for others, probably less eye rolls in a sRPG but that's because I can role play whatever I want and not have to wait for jimbobsonof-allyourdamnhouses- to relinquish the one plot I'm actually interested in). Meanwhile representing gravity or 'realistic physics' even with magic (how things might collide or explode) makes me quite happy.

So to each their own on that; although, I would argue stereo-typically in the genre (theme park, everyone gets a ticket experience) and how FFXIV has described itself through story (super freaking magical, we're near god levels)- the system still doesn't fit. There is ridiculous amounts of land, magical and not (monsters be snapped out of existence from our might, or tamed, so I don't care about "but but it's untamed land" lol)- our limitations on housing are merely because they wanted to and not so much a realistic representation of life (because we've the gil, power, and land to make it happen- even if it had to be magical or airship based). Well honestly this system is most likely this way in a mix of want and had to because of time/development constraints (expensive and time consuming, and this was way back when the game had less money and had already invested so much to remake everything) and not because the game world as it exists really needed it.

Not that I want to say immersion isn't worth it, just that I don't really think that specific element, on a personal level, is that valuable to replicate- like being able to do all the jobs is probably not that realistic either but honestly I don't want that "pick one job" realism either. Our guns should probably jam in FFXIV sometimes too but no thanks for that lol. So that concept of it's real I both value and also fear, I wanted to give you points that I sometimes have that feeling that it should be believable by having a sense of realism, but also somethings to some people are just not that interesting to have to deal with in real life and so having to deal with it in a game is like "yeet that idea". Property scarcity is not something I care for, honestly scarcity in general, in that there is a finite resource- no thanks for my mmo video games (finite legendary weapons in a single player game is different than if it was multiplayer).
