I just tried with Windows 8 compatibility and I'm still getting crashes. It's worth a try at least.
I took your advice (ran ffxivboot64.exe in Win 8 compatibility mode (and administrative mode per other advice)) and I was finally able to get past the loading screen to Rak'tika. I immediately teleported to a known okay zone (Limsa Lominsa), but got the dx11 error during the loading screen for THAT zone. Any further attempt to log back in has resulted in a dx11 error popup and crash.

So...progress but still not playable. I'll keep tinkering...

I've got the XAudio crash 2 times now just while in a dungeon healing. Once in Hades's EX and once in Grand Cosmos. Both have happened after teh 5.1 hot fix. Never had them before that time.

You may try this : https://deciphertools.com/blog/ffxiv-directx-crash/

Didn't work for me but it may work for you as you had XAudio error message.

Okay, I finally got in and I've been able to stay online successfully for over 1 hr. I'm crossing my fingers, but I might as well post what I've done since the complete reinstall to perhaps help others.

    My setup:
    - Nvidia graphics card
    - I play FFXIV on Windows (non-Steam) on Bordered Fullscreen mode
    - I play on a 100Hz external monitor

    1. Framerate changes did NOTHING. I have a 100hz monitor and I kept the game, display adapter, and graphics card settings to 100hz or variable.
    2. I reinstalled FFXIV, but a fresh game did NOT fix the problem until I did the next steps below.
    2. I turned all overlays OFF. This includes Shadowplay, Discord, and Steam. This is due to others stating that those overlays mess with DirectX dll's which seemed to be the focus of my problem.
    3. I edited ffxivboot64.exe, ffxiv.exe, and ffxiv_dx11.exe to run in Windows 8 compatibility mode and administrator mode by default. This change in particular let me log on long enough to port out of the troublesome zone (Rak'tika Woods in my case) before it crashed again in Limsa Lominsa with dx11 errors.
    4. I added a "dxgi.dll" file that shaders (in this case Reshade) typically use to fix dx11 errors into the game folder...and suddenly no more dx11 pop-ups. I've used this solution in the past when I've had solely dx11 issues.

With these changes, I was able to enter and finish the new MSQ 5.1 dungeon and walk around Limsa Lominsa. I have not tried going back to Rak'tika Woods yet because I choose life.

EDIT: I had one dx11 crash since (when teleporting to Eulmore) but I was able to log back in immediately after. This might be a regular thing.

After fixing the missing faces to aura males so far not been getting anymore dx11 errors today. Hope that was only problem causing them buy not even sure in first place how they got deleted in 5.1 patch. But still getting weird lag where use a mount and I will appear just floating in the air where mount should been and doesn't show up for like 10 seconds later.

So... I tried to log in again and now the game doesn't even show me an error code. It just closes during the loading.

I tried this method and i've been able to stay online for like one hours. But any attempt to enter new 5.1 dungeon caused ffxiv exe error. It started to crash all over again after one hour, and now i'm back to the beginning.. Anyways it was worth a try. Thanks for sharing.

    I'm sorry it didn't help.

I still crash randomly, this time with errors like aclayers.dll, ntdll.dll, and nvwgf2umx.dll on top of the normal dx11 errors. I will swap to Dx9 and play until it crashes again. Then swap again. This will keep me online but it's seemingly random as it happens anywhere. The only consistent crash I've found so far is whenever using the aesthetician and clicking to accept the changes, the game crashes EVERY time.

This has happened to me continuously today. The random crashes still happen, but it happens MORE frequently during/after loading screens and cutscene transitions. Something about moving from one mode to the other seems to trigger the crashes almost every time.

Found new place get dx11 errors. Every time go and enter Pyros get dx11 errors. I say if they don't fix these dx11 errors players effected should place class action lawsuit against SE. Where paying subs and there 5.1 patch had bugs in it and keeping a lot paying player from being able to enjoy the game from all these dx11 error crashes after it. We had no problems before the 5.1 patch. They don't even list any updates on fixing it. I can't even finish my machinist pyros weapon because every other step take in there instant dx11 crash. Fixing these errors should have already been done in last maintenance. Can't switch to dx9 they dropped support for it when 5.0 think came out.
