I mean, this patch doesn't do Everything I Ever Wanted At Once but it's a step forward in many respects and the new content is great.

This is basically my sentiment, but I'll elaborate.I like the stuff that is in there.
...
Unfortunately, it is such a small patch in terms of actual playtime or content. Its the big "catch up" patch for the lower half of the playerbase, introducing barely any progress but a lot of nerfing of existing content, and all the group activities outside Hades EX are basically outdated content on release.
I had hoped, after the tremendous success of SHB, that SE would learn from past mistakes and step up their game here. This patch lasts a few days for most playable content until you just repeat old stuff, yet its supposed to hold us over for what, another 4 months till we get an actual raid tier?
I'm just hopping in today, and...I've unlocked everything already and it's kind of silly. I went and triple checked that I wasn't missing anything and felt immediately disappointed.
I like what I'm about to do, to be sure, but it's just so little.
I was really REALLY hoping that NG+ would be something worth doing. This and the MSQ are what I was most excited for (obviously the 24 man, but I REALLY REALLY loved the ShB story and want more)! Maybe they said it somewhere and I missed it, but I just, you know, expected NG+ to give experience, not weapons etc. Just exp. To be able to level alts that way AND revisit the story. But...we can't do that. So I honestly don't see the point in it. If I can't level an alt, and make good use of that time in NG+, what really is the point aside from "reliving the story?"
But to address the patch as a whole:
Back in ARR and HW, patches would bring 2 dungeons, a primal, or a raid and gods know what else. It was just more stuff. Now we get 1 dungeon, and either a primal or a raid update depending on the patch.
The MSQ updates used to be longer as well, with at least 1 of the dungeon unlocks (and maybe even the primal fight) being part of said MSQ, leaving the other dungeon as a side quest you went and found/unlocked. It was great.
But, since SB, these patches have mostly been pretty sparse, and I (and probably many, many others) simply let them pile up until it's close to time for the next expansion. This is coming from someone who, from ARR through HW, played nonstop.
SB wasn't good, I won't pretend it was. The story was boring, and felt like it was written to simply set up things after we got the hell out of Ala Mhigo. The patches from SB were, again, not good, and I was hoping that pattern would end with ShB, but here we are in what is the best expansion for an MMO and....we're at the first patch and it's still tiny just like the SB patches were.
I love this game. I just think these patches aren't up to par with what we know the team is capable of. Because, again, we've seen what they're really capable of, and this isn't it.
So far, I enjoyed everything about it I came across.
I'm happy crafting got simpler, since I used to love it in 2.0 but later on it kept getting too complicated for my tastes.
I'm even happy about Fellowships', I'm still not sure if they actually be useful since their functionality is very restricted, but they're nice.
And a lot of other things I now forgot.
Yeah I like it, because I already own a house.
I'm happy with it so far. Gonna take me some time to get that new Hunt mount but it'll happen eventually. I needed a long term goal or 2 anyway. The Beast Tribe quests seem interesting enough. I absolutely loved the Copied Factory. If they throw me a Savage Alexandrian weapon my way in 2 weeks then that'll be the icing on the cake. Here's hoping for that.
This probably helps too. Glad I didn't have to deal with THAT crap again.
yes, the next update will remove all skills and replace them with craft button which instantly makes the item.Isn't this the first of two big overhauls for the crafting system? So this might be the first step to change it to the way they want it to be.
I'm a big macro user myself for crafting but I'd like to think that for high end crafts you actually need use your skill actively instead of macro'ing. And with Reclaim gone we cannot start over if we screw up.
@CookieNCream
I like the changes to NIN and crafting, but I'm currently stuck at a point in the MSQ, so it's ended for me..
It was mostly a QoL patch, but I do think everything was decent. The new Nier raid I thought was easier than the Ivalice, which was kindda disappointing, there is only a couple spots I haven't figured out yet. The QoL stuff was great and even tho its gonna take a lil adjusting to the jobs that changed its doable.
The big disappointment in this patch was the story telling across the board.
The MSQ, was a snoresfest. The dungeon was the only really great part of it because its gotta be one of the most beautiful ones we have gotten yet. But the msq was just all filler story that could have been reduced to 2 quests. I want to know more about the aftermath of what happened and what the remaining ascians have in store for us, not how whats-his-face proved he was a good mayor and blah blah blah /skipcutscene
And let's not get started on the pixie storyline. I liked the pixies in the msq, but this whole "dreaming is magic" is so ridiculouslyu kawaii and cheesy my 5 year old would roll their eyes. They lean way too hard into the cutesy factor sometimes. Cute is fine but this crap rots your teeth.
The Nier storyline was atrocious too, up til we actually got 2P or P2 or whatever her name was, by that time I didn't care anymore, those dwarves had me so annoyed I wanted to chuck them over a cliff. The end part where we got to go through the ruins again was very good and the dwarves were ok in that part, but all that led up to it, already made me hate them, so again I was disappointed I couldn't toss them over a railing.
Maybe this game isn't for you and it is time you hang it up? If the story is so atrocious to you, then it isn't for you. Move on. Be happy. No need to dwell in a game that you hate every aspect of.It was mostly a QoL patch, but I do think everything was decent.
