So far, I love this patch. Regretting having to go to work today because I just want to fully immerse myself more. The MSQ is meaty adding a satisfying chapter to the main story content. The new zones are drop dead gorgeous and even the gear that drops is aesthetically pleasing. I don't think the forums are a fair measurement of content's success as 9/10 threads here complaining even when the game is at it's peak.

I freaking love this patch. The only thing I would have had an issue with was the 3 chest 24man loot, but not even that is an issue because I freaking love the raid. RNG will smile on me someday, but until then...Im rocking it lol.

So I really would like to know if I'm the only one thinking this is quite a big and enjoyable patch.
In general, people who are disappointed tend to be more vocal than people who are generally content or happy, so you'll often see topics on the negative side of things since they're expressing their concerns, whereas people who are content are more likely to be in-game doing the stuff they like or just not commenting.

As far as my own opinion, Everything they've implemented so far into 5.1 has been quite wonderful!

#.1 is a pretty important patch. I look back to when 4.1 launched and pretty much ran through everything I wanted to fairly quickly. For 5.1 I still have stuff I need to keep running for loot like the Nier raid and even then that's also spending my entire day going through MSQ and beast tribes.

We still have the 5.1# patches which will add in more like Onsal, Hildy, and the Relic Weapons so I'm excited to see what else it'll bring.

I'm honestly in good faith saying MSQ has been getting really juicy and the ending for 5.1 makes me want 5.2 ASAP. Something I can really say over 4.1's ending.

This whole patch was a major blast. Best 24 man, I love politics so the MSQ was my jam, heck yes quick gathering and I'm going to have to level NIN because I ignored the entire job because I didn't like the old one.

I'm happy they buffed DNC... while having 'group utility' is fine and dandy for those who love grouping, some of us prefer to play solo and maining an extremely fun class that does the least amount of damage isn't fair to us. I've heard a lot of people unhappy with the new 'voices' that were added... I'm thankful my Hyur male voice wasn't too greatly changed... just a minor 'grunt' was added, otherwise everything seems pretty much the same voice wise. I'm also happy they added a difficulty option for solo instanced battles because some of them are extremely difficult if you are trying them 'at level' or don't have the current gear.

    The story was very predictable.

Curious on that myself. If items sell for 2 million, it's usually because it took expensive melds, time and effort to get to the stage where you could even make that item (sometimes even more than the profit you make) and there also needs to be buyers. I agree it's not healthy if a bulk of necessary items are exclusive, or it's so exclusive 1-2 crafters per DC have monopoly, but otherwise I don't see the issue if it's a tiny handful of vanity items.

Currently the high end items consist of the crafter gear, 2 glams and 3 Hade's items. In the same way people ask why casuals even need raid gear when they complain tomes are capped, I'd ask why casual crafters need the new crafter set and must have access to those 5 vanity items when they already have a few thousand other items available?

I like the stuff that is in there. 24 man is awesome looks, even though its really REALLY undertuned, and I think the 2B outfit is going to be the main attire for the next months in the game. I personally dont mind the crossover with Nier, but it DOES give the feeling that the Nier universe is invading the Eorzea, and you really have to ignore all the illogical situations (Magic vs. a futuristic fighter jet craft? yeaaaaah right ...) and just go with this as an arcade video game.

I like the new dungeon, especially the last boss was fun. Would love to have a version of that fight that actually takes some effort.

Hades is cool. I liked that we didnt just clear him on the first night entirely, and how the EX version ties into the Heavensward Ascians.

New PvP gear looks cool, even though it further changes the FFXIV universe towards a sci-fi mashup - not sure if this is a good idea, seeing how futuristic designs also were never popular in other fantasy games.

I like the MSQ so far. It retains the high quality of 5.0

Unfortunately, it is such a small patch in terms of actual playtime or content. Its the big "catch up" patch for the lower half of the playerbase, introducing barely any progress but a lot of nerfing of existing content, and all the group activities outside Hades EX are basically outdated content on release.
I had hoped, after the tremendous success of SHB, that SE would learn from past mistakes and step up their game here. This patch lasts a few days for most playable content until you just repeat old stuff, yet its supposed to hold us over for what, another 4 months till we get an actual raid tier?

I'm a big macro user myself for crafting but I'd like to think that for high end crafts you actually need use your skill actively instead of macro'ing. And with Reclaim gone we cannot start over if we screw up.

    @CookieNCream
You don't. Macros have already been made, now requiring less steps than previously. All that's changed is you need some HQ mats depending on your Control. Otherwise, it's just as much of a joke as it was before.

Despite being a mastercraft since 2.0 this seems like a good thing to me: Anyone who wants a crafting challenge - like you - will get one (you'll even get a leaderboard for them), but it wont affect the market to much, meaning that even non-crafters with less income will be able to afford crafted gear. Making regular crafting more difficult OR RNG-heavy would result in higher prices on the market, which would mean that a lot of people dont have access to that gear. And yes, I know its fun to sell items that took you 2 minutes to make for millions, did that often enough... but at the end of the day thats not really all that good for the game.
So this seems like a good compromisse to me: You get a crafting-challenge, you get to show off with that leaderboard, but any crafting thats relevant to the game in regards to the rest of the population stays at a level that is mostly RNG-free and can be achieved by anyone, if they wish so (...many actually still dont).
I disagree. End game gear should not be something you can make with no effort whatsoever. The current ease of crafting completely destroys the markets since everything becomes increasingly oversaturated, and at a much faster rate than ever before. At no point in four years except possibly the last two or so weeks of an odd numbered patch did I ever see end game crafted gear dip to below five digits. That happened with the i450 stuff in under a month. And I'm sorry but no, the "I don't have as much gil" argument doesn't fly for me when they've introduced so many alternatives to gearing. Eden Normal gear is easier than ever to obtain; you have the augmented i460 in an odd patch (which really should be upgraded through crafting a new mat), and finally all the old methods remain.

Nothing ever stayed in the millions; usually settling in the mid to low six digits for the remainder of the raid tier. I don't see how that was ever a problem.

Forgive me if I don't buy for a moment Ishgard will be endgame. Not only do I doubt it will offer anywhere near the equivalent gil but more importantly, I don't believe the dev team created a system that will make anything remotely hard since practically everything in Shadowbringers has become increasingly simplified. Not to mention, Yoshida literally said he found no HQ macros and macros in general to be broken yet the changes made things even easier.
