    New Game Plus experience

I apologize if this conversation has already been started; when I do a search for "new game plus" or "new game +", the search fails.

    My premises:
    • Leveling your first class/job feels organic and natural, one quest flowing to the next with only minimal breaks to run some dungeons to make up for missing experience.
    • MSQ quests are the overwhelming majority of the experience you get from leveling your first class/job.
    • Side quests give a pittance of experience points, rendering them a poor way to level up. YMMV, of course, but I assume that I am in the majority in this valuation.
    • The only real viable way to level subsequent classes/jobs is through dungeons.
    • Leveling subsequent classes/jobs is an interminable slog, due to having to do dungeons over and over. This especially applies to dps classes, as they frequently have to sit in queues before getting into those dungeons.

With these in mind, I was looking forward to leveling my other classes/jobs using the New Game Plus feature. Not only would it have been faster, but playing through the steadily-improving story of the expansions would have been far more engaging than chaining one dungeon after another ad nauseam.

When NG+ was first announced and they said that we wouldn't be getting the rewards from the quests, I saw that as having three possibilities:
    1. Exp + gear, but no gil or specific rewards (companions, decorations, class abilities, aether currents)
    2. Exp, but no gear, gil, or specific rewards
    3. No exp, gear, gil, or specific rewards (current state)

Obviously it makes sense not to give us duplicate rewards of cosmetics, gating states, or other unique rewards. I can even see them not wanting to give us gear/gil, although I wouldn't expect that it would happen in large enough numbers to impact the economy at all. What I don't understand is why they would take out the exp.

Obviously there's nobody at Sq. Enix hq saying "look, they had fun leveling their first character, but they shouldn't enjoy it for later ones", so that raises the question of why do it this way? What could contraindicate providing exp through New Game Plus?

Here’s a thread that discusses this thoroughly.
