The slides make it sound like the quality over quantity is the route they are taking.

Kinda weird that they want to let ANY DoH class Meld materia, but yet not Repair.
That just seems strange to me. Hopefully that was just something they forgot to mention.
It sounds more like the short ranking periods are what's intended to reduce the "stress" level from them, though regardless of how short they are the cheaters are still going to dominate a quantity over quality system.
There was no reference to quality in the live letter. The references was to quantity. The slides make it sound like the quality over quantity is the route they are taking.

They always encourage players to enjoy content without pushing themselves hard. Telling us to participate without pushing hard is not the same as telling us we will have an equal chance to reach the top whether we push hard or not.
Then again, those who bot certainly aren't pushing themselves hard. Perhaps it was a hint that if you intend to get rewards out of the leaderboards, make certain you have a bot ready to do the work for you so you don't have to push yourself hard?
Could be that repair is still on the list of things to add. They do need to break down the old code restrictions and some things are probably easier done than others.
I'd still like it better if players could repair gear for other players though if they allowed any correct level DoH to repair items from all DoH, that would probably end up working just as well. Players who just want access to repair their own gear would only have to level a single class.

I see, I was hoping the LL Digest would have clarified the message that was relayed in Japanese. Time to start coding. There was no reference to quality in the live letter. The references was to quantity.

Still hoping the leader board will be based on quality (which can take a lot of 'tries') and the quantity of turnins is for buying new scrip rewards at a casual pace.
Indeed, this would be awesome as you could just grab whatever class, and be able to Meld *and* Repair your gear instead of having to level the whole shebang. That would be quite nice, that way only players who actually want to level all the crafts would feel the pressure to do so.I'd still like it better if players could repair gear for other players though if they allowed any correct level DoH to repair items from all DoH, that would probably end up working just as well. And it would help a ton as far as alts go, it's the #1 reason why I won't play alts much, because then I think about how much leveling I would have to do, just to reduce repair costs and annoyances (since you can repair to 200% durability which makes it last twice as long between repairs), I end up going "meh" and losing interest in the idea of playing an alt.
It doesn't reduce costs significantly since you still have to buy the right Dark Matter. We don't tend to remember that we have to pay for that. Based on repairs I was getting with an alt that wasn't able to repair their gear, the cost is similar though repair yourself is slightly less because of the greater efficiency. I didn't start leveling DoH on that character because of repair, I did it because I missed being able to craft on her to make gil.And it would help a ton as far as alts go, it's the #1 reason why I won't play alts much, because then I think about how much leveling I would have to do, just to reduce repair costs and annoyances (since you can repair to 200% durability which makes it last twice as long between repairs), I end up going "meh" and losing interest in the idea of playing an alt.
And it doesn't actually repair to 200% durability. It adds 100% durability when you repair yourself as opposed to the mender repairing to 100% durability. If my gear is at 40% when I get around to repairing it, it will increase to 140% not 200%.
But it absolutely does reduce annoyance. You don't need to remember to visit a mender and you're not going to have the "oh crap" moment when you join a group in an instance just to notice your gear is at 15%. You can repair on the spot and not worry (again assuming you haven't run out of Dark Matter).
1). You can get Dark Matter with other currencies other than gil (though admittedly it's rather expensive to do so),It doesn't reduce costs significantly since you still have to buy the right Dark Matter. 2). Adding 100% is better than repairing to 100%. Sometimes I like to repair as soon as I see green bars just so I get 190%+ so I don't have to repair again for a good long time.
And, IIRC, buying Dark Matters is cheaper than paying the mender. I could be wrong on that though, I suppose. I know that 99 Dark Matters are 19,800 gil (200 each) and I'm fairly sure that when I was forced to use a repair NPC, some of my items wanted 400+ gil to repair. That's more than double the cost.
I have a constant influx of GC seals and have to bleed them off to avoid capping. One of the things I spend them on is Dark Matter. The seals come in so frequently and in such abundance that I can't use up cordials or venture coins fast enough to rely on those alone to keep from capping.
How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
Me, I just keep buying ventures. I got like 12,000 of them by now lol.I have a constant influx of GC seals and have to bleed them off to avoid capping. I wanna cap out at 65k so I will never have to buy ventures ever again.
EDIT: Just did the calculations and 65,000 ventures at 8 per day (4 retainers doing Exploration) is just over 22 years worth, haha.
Heck, the 12k I have is like 4 years worth of ventures lol.
Okay maybe I really don't need 65k venture coins. I could buy some dark matter and save myself some money I suppose.
