Whether people agree or disagree with it, their choice to add them to the loot table in the manner that they did was to keep people running the content. It is working I'm sure. There's no reason for the coffers to be an alliance roll. They could have easily made it one per party and you'd still have sour luck win out most runs, but the odds wouldn't be awful. I mean it drops three coffers anyway, just... why?
I can't help but feel cynical about why they'd make you compete against the entire alliance. Also the bit where people who have it can roll on it anyway is really stupid.
IMO it's a particularly sour mark given so many in the community have been wishing for it for so long and no other crossover required sheer dumb luck for the thing you wanted. I hope they'll consider changing it to a party lot.
That's absolutely why they did it, and that's why I think it's scummy. Maybe I'm jaded at this point, but I don't get excited when a developer takes something people have requested for years and turns it into something purely low-chance and luck-based to encourage grinding.
Nobody likes Alliance lotting. If you don't roll higher than a 95 you likely don't have a shot at the item to begin with, and even still that's only for a solid chance. Unless you blast out a 99 on the item there's a good chance one of those other 23 people had a higher roll than you.
Again there are three coffers already, AND you can still roll on them once you have it. Pets filter out over time since they're unique. Songs can be sold and get cheaper. Your weekly lot on your item isn't shared among your whole party because not everyone rolls on everything and then your job can filter out who does.
It's not about the items themselves but about the intent behind it. People are going to run that content regardless. People want their gear, they want their tokens, they want their gear upgrades. It'll be introduced to roulettes and people will still run it. They don't need to make you lot against your entire alliance for a glamour outfit to keep people running it.
I just don't find it acceptable personally. If others do then I guess more power to them.

Okay so you just want it handed to you.So the devs knew just how wanted the 2b outfit is... so they lock it to not only a loot table but o my 3 chests vs thousands of people who are all gonna want it so unless you get extremely lucky it's gonna take some people months or a year if not more especially once the hype dies down.
I get it's to make sure people run it but ffs, at least implement a token system where you can buy the set but say 5-10 tokens per piece or something so eventually it won't take forever. I never get good rng rolls so now my only reliable options are no life one piece of content or wait long enough til 3 people can solo it altogether.
People who are fine with it I'm sure will result to insulting or defending the choice but I'm tired of having to fight for outfits in a damn dungeon let alone against 23 other people. Woulda preferred just handing it out at the end of the saga or again a token system.
That's..... not how that works.
C'mon, I'm probably one of the most lazy and casual players here, and even I think you're going a bit overboard with the self-entitlement and/or wanting handouts.
The 2B armor set looks great. That kind of awesome gear should be worked for.
The person you quoted is literally asking to work for it, but in your haste to make some kind of bootstraps analogy about how people shouldn't want welfare handouts in a video game you missed that. She's asking for the ability to earn it by repeatedly running the content with that goal in mind.Okay so you just want it handed to you.

Goal-oriented gameplay is what keeps people playing. Luck-based grinds is what burns people out.
Locking people out of doing other content, good luck doing much of anything else in the game when you're stuck half a week running the raid trying to get the correct piece of loot to drop to even get a chance to roll.
The fix for it all is simple, but they refuse to do it. Just increase the amount of loot and make it tokens so you don't have to get the correct classes gear to drop. Heck, it would even do what they tried to do with the Greed only back in the Ridorana Lighthouse but infinitely better.
I just greed won some butt armor for my caster, I'll settle on that this week. Still want the glam, lost a 90 roll, expected that though.
Problem is the butt armor I'm pretty sure is just the regular glam. I don't plan on farming too long this week, if I get it I get it.

And people wonder why the dev team doesn't take the western market complaints serious....complaining about a glamour drop chance when the raid isn't even 24hrs old. I get that glamming up as 2B while using the perform feature in limsa all day is important for some people, but by the 12...complain about something more substantial please. I mean even the additional battle voices would be a more substantial complaint since they aren't optional and are hit-miss with a lot of people.
This is pretty disingenuous. Life isn't turn-based, and both developers and players can have and address multiple concerns at the same time. I don't want to speak for anyone else but the gear itself is secondary for me to my main complaint. I really don't like taking a major fan request and turning it into slot machines. There's no effort or work involved in earning it. It's a pure gamble. I don't like what that says about the developers' priorities, and I don't like what it says about how they view their players. And people wonder why the dev team doesn't take the western market complaints serious....complaining about a glamour drop chance when the raid isn't even 24hrs old. I'm gonna stop monopolizing this page but I really wish you and others wouldn't use the same old arguments time and again for why this kind of thing is supposed to be okay. Your time is valuable. Just because you're spending it on a game doesn't mean it deserves to be wasted. XIV, for the most part, doesn't waste your time by giving you clear ways to work towards your goals that are concrete and that you can actively earn. That makes something like the glamour coffers stick out sorely.
Plus I worry if it's just accepted here it'll be continued in future content.
Edit: missed a word
