The New/Added Combat Sounds...Thoughts?

I use voice 1 for Miqo'te since ARR and it really grew on me. Then comes 5.1 and I started hearing this one noise that I suddenly started hearing over and over again (I play melee for the most part so it was especially noticeable for me). At first, I thought it was by another character but when I was practicing my rotation on a striking dummy I kept hearing that one really noticeable sound and it really got to me. What's worse is it sometimes repeats itself frequently (I often hear it 4 to 5 times in my melee opener sometimes). For me it was higher pitch than the rest of it and louder too; when I had my voice turned lower that specific sound was still audible and the only one in fact.

The one I'm talking about specifically is the "ya" sound on the timestamp. It sounds really high pitch and too fast to me and for some reason is a lot more frequent than most of the other voices I hear.

Some people may like it but I personally don't. I like the original voice and I wish I at least have the choice to stick with those.

About a month since this change was implemented, I've noticed several unsettling developments.
- I've shifted to healing entirely, not touching my "main" job Bard anymore.
- I don't feel inclined anymore to level my Warrior beyond doing the Pixie Beast Tribe quests and the weekly chocobo leveling challenge log by doing FATEs. I also find myself muting my character's voice every time I play a melee/physical ranged character, even though I love her voice.
- I'm enjoying the game less than I usually do.


To some degree, part of these elements can be attributed to risking burnout from playing the game for two years non-stop. But this change to battle voice has more and more felt like a travesty towards my character because I regrettably cannot appreciate the changes made and I'm shifting away from any activity where this change is apparent.


I love my character, I love the game, I don't like these added battle voices to my chosen voice. I haven't found any acknowledgement of the concerns mentioned in this thread and haven't yet found an option to opt-out of it.


Please, just make it an option from the menu so people can simply revert to their old sounds or keep the new sounds at their own discretion.

I understand what you mean. I remember when I logged in and instantly went to hear the changes for myself having seen it in the patch notes, it felt pretty awful to see what they had done. While I'd intended to go run the new raid with a friend, I ended up backing out and not playing for a few days because of the burnout feeling it immediately gave me, I just did not feel like doing anything

Even though my initial burnout feelings are gone and I'm back to playing regularly, the change still bothers me to no end, and I could only imagine how it must feel for you/others to be affected by it like this, I definitely understand the feeling. I've only been playing for a few months though so I can't imagine what it must be like to use a voice for years only to have it changed like this. (granted, I had literally just fantasia'd from miqo'te to au ra about 2-3 weeks before the change happened, so I was pretty upset what I had just switched to immediately got changed, especially given how much I loved the way it sounded)

Every single time they announce a new hotfix patch I just end up praying they're going to wordlessly do something about it, like with the one coming tomorrow
