Ehm why Square Enix? That was bit of fun with Blue Mage.... Why take away everything that is little bit funny....

likely because it was abused in Canival on multistage fights, it made for sample the Thypoon fight trivial which came down to.
Final sting first stage
Explode 2nd stage
Final sting 3rd stage

I recognize most of those. And died a little inside when I saw certain ones. The debuff is more of a preparation for the update come 5.15 and further. Dataminers unearthed all of the spells for the update and one of them looks like the Life 3/Reraise spell icon from FFVI. It'd be hilarious if you can use self-harm spells, reraise back to back without the debuff.
If anyone doesn't mind getting spoiled, here's the link to the new spells
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Army of BLUs cheesing content with self-destruct.

Not being able to cheese everything with final sting has bade blu challenges actually interesting.
But this is pretty old I would hope people have realized this by now.

You can still cheese fights outside of Carnivale. It just requires more strategy. I mean, you can basically clear Thornmarch EX in 2 minutes with 6 Self-Destructs and a Moon Flute opener if you time it right.

Personally, it should be removed outside of combat
everyone called it return 2 because that's exactly how useful self destruct was

You can force the game to remove the debuff. Did this with friends the other night trying to do a jump puzzle. We'd self destruct if we failed a jump, get raised back up to where we were before, then keep trying... but to get rid of the debuff, change jobs, queue into anything, then leave. Change back to blue mage, and your brush with death debuff is still gone.
Sure it's a lot of steps, but it's faster than waiting 10 minutes for it to go away on its own.

If GMs see that, they might pass it on to SE and get it patched where Brush with Death stays regardless.

It's a lot of hoops to jump through to remove a debuff that also involves changing jobs and going into other content. Seems that the intent of the debuff was to keep people from blowing themselves up back to back in fights or cheesing the masked carnival by self destructing on every floor. Making it so you can't blow yourself up in town sooner than 10 minutes is likely low on their priority list since what I'm referring to doesn't help if you wanted to use the skill multiple times in combat.
