I just want to let the dev team, and everybody working on FF:XIV that the game is 100% taking the right direction. I have no doubt that if THIS were released, the game would have been a success. Granted, there is still alot of room for improvement. but overall, you guys (the dev team) have done an amazing job of turning a game around. I have nothing but respect for how hard you have worked, and every day I look forward to playing your game.
But, to give you my thoughts on improvement. And I know alot of these are being worked on, but...AH please. Retainer system is awesome now a days, and I can see what they were trying to do with it. but, I wish I could just buy from the window rather than having to zone, load, find, buy. Oh, and sometimes my cool down timers don't show on my action bar. And of course a mailing system, a universal AH, and the ability to /yell and have it reach the main hub of every city. OH OH OH! almost forgot. Bring back dark knight please! let it be a DD/crowd control, I know you still have to make room for RDM, NIN, THF, and SAM. but as far as DRK goes...don't let it be what it is right now in FF:XI, a WAR that sucks but has way better looking armor. Give it the crowd control utility of being able to AoE sleep, AoE bio, AoE drain.
Now that I'm done complaining :P let me go back to compliments, you guys are awesome and have done an awesome job of bringing this game back. I can't wait til v2.0~!

There are still major system flaws that exist with this game that would have crippled it, particularly relating to latency, poor engine optimization, UI sluggishness, and some classes having very bland combat mechanics. They still don't have guild infrastructure up at all, a very basic mmo component. Their story is still really unpolished, and the zones are terrible and would have led to the exact same comments from launch, even with a few things placed from area to area.

It's making improvements, yes, but if this were released now it wouldn't be good enough to thrive.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but just in case you just go up to the market wards, hit the item search button, then find the item you want. Click on the retainer you want to purchase from, and it will ask you if you want to buy it. When you do, you will think the game is going crazy or maybe your computer is breaking, but it isn't. Wait for the spazziness to end and you will have the item in your inventory.

I think the OP is right. Both of you are being too harsh.

Most of the FFXI players that transitioned to FFXIV at launch were disappointed. The game is fun now, despite the UI lag, it has significantly improved overall as an MMO. The only thing that's lacking is the content, but ah well, we'll have to be patient for that.

Anyhow, the positive aspect of this post is that, yes, FFXIV is going in the right direction.
