thread is stupid and pointless.
Well, we're pretty much in beta for 2.0 at this point. There are only seven classes and the balance seems completely awful at this point. Dragoons are completely outdone by Warriors. Monks are really only good for those stationary battles on speed runs. Everything else is Warriors or ranged. With only seven classes total, do we really need a niche job like Monk or (bad copy) redundant one like Dragoon?
I'm just hoping that all these classes get better balanced. I play Warrior, Monk, and Dragoon as my jobs, but I'm on Warrior almost all the time even if I'm not tanking. That seems silly to me.
My Dragoon kills things faster than my warrior, a lot faster. Sure, Warrior is a good tank, Drg does deal the damage though.

Like I said "Elitist" Thread
Come on... thats sensationalism at its best...
Does the game need balancing tweaks.. yes
But you know what... it ALWAYS will
the balance is not absolutely horrible... I think its definitely in the ballpark
But no matter how much you balance...
There will be people like Starlord and TheVedis who play the classes they love and have fun with them regardless...
And there will always be people who stack certain classes thinking that is the only way it can be done....
But if you balance the content....
Say Shiva had some huge move where you had to incap her legs to stop it from happening... then you're going to want a MNK using "Fist of Fire" with Demolish
If you have to break Titans left arm to stop him from using some ground punch that stuns and damages the entire party... then you damn well better have a dragoon in there
See, the case can be made that every class is situational... and SE has just made more BRD and BLM situations at the moment
Once the content is more diverse, I am hoping we'll see a lot more usefulness out of every class
I think people discount the enmity drop more than they should...
Evasive Jump reduces enmity and that is extremely useful. Dragoon, and monk for that matter, have access to archer abilities. Archer have chameleon and quelling strike. With these, evasive jump, chameleon, and quelling strike, a dragoon can do more damage than a warrior without pulling threat.
I play BLM mostly and my damage would be greatly reduced without enmity drops. Freeze drops me from red to green, most times. Throw in the fact I'm using quelling strike and chameleon when ever I can, I'm generally at less threat but have done more damage than the other character without them.
In short, do not down play the enmity reducers. A good dragoon will be at higher damage and but at lower threat at any given time. Lower enmity means the dragoon can loose on WS more readily without the worry of pulling threat.
On a side note: I run WHM a lot and as such even if a DPS warrior pulls threat, it annoys me greatly. I do not like playing 'guess who is going to take the next hit' because the DPS warrior is being uncontrolled in enmity.
Forum Lurker Extraordinaire.
Like a good stalker, I'm always there.
im getting tired of it too its getting to the point where im about to say i go dragoon or monk or not at all and not care about it, monk and dragoon are good classes and can outdmg war if played right. even though they make you go war/ranged doesnt mean thats the only way to do things its just the easiest and naturally people take the easy way out as long as it works. thus creating a mindset making them think thats the only way tpo do it its not just them choosing to do it like that
i7 12700k/EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra
I can name plenty of reasons I'd use my drg over my war, for damage.
1) I'm not tanking
2) Dragoon has a higher damage output than warrior on single target due to Keen flurry, not to mention lower WS cooldowns in general.
3) Tons of enmity mitigation while warrior can only produce it, meaning we will not and wont stop doing damage, ever.
4) Warriors "easier to position weapon skills" is false, they are no easier to pull off than DRG unless youre doing steel cyclone combo and youre just standing there in the enemies face in which case, youre doing it wrong unless youre tanking.
5) We also have an AOE ws and an AOE stun when needed.
6) DRG is far more enjoyable than most classes in this game to me anyway.

Dragoon doesn't flat out do more damage than Warrior. It's pretty even honestly. Threat drops aren't that important in that instance. Has your server not caught onto warrior burns yet? Warriors do great damage. Monks can top them on certain fights, but Dragoons really can't.I think people discount the enmity drop more than they should...

This kind of thing isn't hard to heal if you aren't completely lazy.
edit: BLM damage is really enmity dependent, but WAR damage really isn't. All you need is a WHM that isn't half AFK.
