    Bring back crowd control. Bring back branching dungeons. Bring back ADVENTURE.

    Please, SE. PLEASE...next xpac please get away from this linear zero-thought required gameplay. Please give us dungeons that are exciting and dangerous again. I have been leveling a new job recently and going through the 1-50 dungeons you can tell how much better designed they are compared to 3.x+ stuff...they have themes and unique objectives. Sure, they are super easy but later-levels you could make them more challenging and rewarding. Why not focus on this? Add another dose of challenge, and make crowd control useful again...The path that FFXIV is on cannot be sustained like this. We need DEPTH. "Expert" dungeons are a joke...4 man content needs re-evaluated ASAP.

    I think a dungeon where there's multiple paths, which includes multiple ways to clear the dungeon would be cool. And depending on decisions through out the dungeon, it could change which path you have to take. Maybe a bit much for a normal dungeon, though. Maybe some sort of side content?

    What specifically do you have in mind? I'd like more difficult dungeons, but the 1-50 stuff doesn't really stick out to me as something to base future dungeon design on. In my opinion the fun off FF14 comes from pulling off your rotation under stress. Puzzles and clicking switches don't contribute to that and I find that they can very easily break the flow of content. There are ways to add them to dungeons that can be fun, so I'm not against them completely. I just don't find anything interesting about eating fruit every minute in Aurum Vale, or standing in AoE's in Dzemael just to progress.

    I'd like to see branching and especially randomized paths and enemies which would add more replayability and prevent me from memorizing a dungeon. I'm not opposed to crowd control either, but I don't want it to be something like "cast sleep on this enemy or you fail". Many crowd control skills were considered useless in SB but I really liked using them in desperate situations. These would only pop up 1 in 100 dungeons runs but that's part of what made them rewarding. They were useful in rare occurrences and you had to rely on your experience and skill to make them work.

    Branching dungeons are cool and BRD in WoW will always be one of my favorite dungeons, but in an MMO where dungeons are all funneled through a matchmaking queue system, any objective beyond "complete the dungeon" is too much because once you group up with random people you've never talked to and each person has their own idea of where they wanna go in the dungeon, then you run into toxicity+party issues. The alternative is branching paths which have no reason for people to care about them, which is essentially just wasted development time when you could've made more of the main branch of the dungeon instead. If it's just going to be non-linear on the level of XIV 2.0 stuff like Qarn (do 2 extra pulls to get the items and do the puzzle to get gear nobody cares about + skip 1 pull) or Sastasha (gotta check out the extra rooms for the map achievement!) that are just minor set dressing, then I don't really care enough about it to see it return.

    Not having sprawling dungeons like BRD nowadays is sad, but understandable in a modern MMO where people don't want to have to pre-form all their dungeon groups and agree to what they're doing beforehand.


    CC or at least harder dungeons would be cool, though.

    The challenge of this game is, and continues to be: playing with the general public. And unfortunately the response to this challenge is usually vote-kick or rage!quit, instead of stepping up.

    You say you want branching dungeons, crowd control, ADVENTURE. Do you have full map completion for your ARR dungeons (Sastasha, Dzemael)? If you do, kudos, but a lot of players don't because the majority of players take whatever shortcuts they can for efficiency and very few care about 'exploring' or 'challenge'. Its just about clearing as fast as possible and you can see it in pretty much all instanced content: from dungeons to trials to PotD/HoH to Raids.

    The reason why this isn't already incorporated is because in the end, its what no one wants. The magic wears off fast and content becomes either a chore or faceroll. What you should be asking is for the community to stop and smell the roses. To appreciate the twists and turns, to explore the edges of the map and all I can say to this is... Good luck.
