Crafting Materia VII and VIII sources?

I have several of these materia, but haven't purchased any, and don't have access to white scrips yet. I'm wondering where I got them from..

Besides buying with white scrips, where can you get them? (Trying to get a set of level 80 crafted gear fully set up in advance.)

Crafting Materia 7 and 8 can be earned from doing crafting story quests
Also obtained from Exchanging Bronze certificates from completing wonderous tails weekly

The Grade VII can be bought with yellow scrips. Only VIII's need white scrips. Spiritbonding level 80 crafting gear and converting them into materia can get you VII and VIII materia as well.

I guess it'll be scrips, once I reach 80. I don't see myself converting any level 80 crafting gear into materia, since I'll be wearing it all the time. I suppose once gear gets to 100%, I could convert it and buy / craft a replacement piece, but that would be expensive (and very slow).

The best way to get these by far is:

-Stockpile Cubus Flesh, Underground Spring Water, Chiaroglow and Scuroglow Aethersand, Fernleaf Lavender, Sweet Alysum, Light Gerbera and Kudzu Root. Keep retainers on the job non-stop.
-Next, watch Rowena's House every day on the Alchemy section. You're waiting for either Cunning Craftmans Syrup (yellow scrip) or Tinctures to be starred.
-If one of these are starred, it's your Materia day. Get a good one button macro for regular 80 crafts and spam as many as you feel up to, trade the huge pile of scrips you get for Materia.
-Repeat on other days when these are starred.

You will need a lv80 Alc ideally.

you can combine both of those activities, I do it by having all accessories as spiritbonding items and keeping clothing and tools max level/fully melded also you don't need to meld gear with only the best materia, I still use IV-VI.

That'll be a while. My retainers are only level 59 and 60, and can't collect most of that stuff. (Some I've never seen myself) And, only one retainer is a botanist, the other, a rogue. I will NOT pay for additional ones unless I can do it with Gil.

To be fair, no rush then. Having an 80 crafted gear fully set up in advance sounds nice, but it'll take you far, far longer than if you worked on it after hitting 80.

I'd advise leveling your crafters normally, leveling your gatherers (collecting any of the stuff I mentioned if you see it on the way), retainers, and once you hit 80 then start looking into the endgame. Also there's no guarantee the patch won't change a few things so wait and see how that goes too.

Mutamix is also a nice source, especially now that elemental and attribute aren't a thing. Just give him 5 different VII (or VIII) and you'll get a different VII (or VIII), with a chance the VII upgrades to VIII. There's 7 types of battle materia, 3 types of crafter, and 3 types of gatherer, so 5 different battle will give you a 3/8 chance of crafter, 3/8 chance of gatherer.
