    Name Change Issues For Dyslexia

I name changed yesterday and misspelled Sven as Sevn because of my dyslexia. I contacted support, and they refused to do anything. I feel like the name change token service is unfair, and needs to have a measure for mistake fixing. I believe that once you decide a name, you should be able to fix it ONCE within a certain time period. I.e. 24 hours.

I was so humiliated and embarrassed I didn't even want to log in this morning until I bought a second name change. I'm not saying this should JUST be for disabilities, but I feel like Square Enix needs to be more lenient when it comes to them.

Where are the color blind features? Where is the forgiveness for simple honest mistakes? Why is this game not very accessible for people with disabilities? I'm baffled by how I was treated. I am in no way trying to say that Square Enix is a bad company. I still 100% adore this game, I'm just not happy at how my support ticket was handled. Even when I explained it to them. That didn't feel very supportive or even human. I wasted ten extra dollars for something that I couldn't help. It's not like I chose to have my brain or my eyes the way they are.

I mean to be honest, when I'm naming a character in any kind of name, I usually double, triple check to make sure it's correct. This really isn't a problem on SE's end, this is purely user err.

I did double check. I literally could not see it. I had to ask my friend to look at it for me to make sure what I was actually seeing was right. I rely on a simple tool to correct my words so that I don't mess up certain letters. It's really hard with foreign names however and doesn't always work.

all i can say is for the name change with dyslexia is to take extra time to ensure the spelling is correct that way it can be done once, as for the colour blind features and disabilities, they are available on the PC version of the game only (something to do with 3rd party software incompatible with the ps4), as the game uses colourblind overlays and a hearing visualiser tuned to different sources of sounds, as with other forms of colour blindness, the game has had a lot of changes to some mechanics, textures and designs to make them more easily recognisable and to differentiate between for differing colourblindnesses, with my own disabilities i am able to play the game with ease thanks to those features.

as for the last part of "It's not like I chose to have my brain or my eyes the way they are." while that is true, like i mentioned at the beginning it is up to you to take more time knowing of your disabilities to ensure the spelling was correct.

Yes I agree, this game needs to be more lenient on mistakes, especially for people who suffer from disabilities. 100% have my support.

I mean if you weren't entirely sure, you could have just gone to Google, typed in the name, and copy/pasted it into the bar? I've done that plenty of times in the past, myself. SE can't cater to every single disability out there or they would never be able to make progress with their game. Sometimes it's just up to us to deal with our actions and find our own resolves for them.

I'm all for it, it would be nice if you could change a name within that 24hr period if you don't like it, or it's misspelled.
I don't see any reason to be against the idea, it'll help everyone who uses the service.

This is something that would probably step on more toes than you think. There's a lot of people who make basic mistakes, and on the internet where anyone can be faceless, how many people do you think would use the dyslexia card to change their name? There's a lot of people who will/do use disabilities as a way to get an easier treatment on something, or even free.

Online, how are you gonna be able to confirm with a big busy corporation that you have dyslexia?

If they put a rule for something like that in, how many people do you think might try to say they have it just to get something free?

People need to be held accountable for whatever they do, even if it was a mistake. I have a friend who changed his name in game for RP reasons, but had to change it a second time because he forgot an apostrophe in his character's last name. Everyone has to be treated at the exact same level with no one getting special treatment.

I have multiple disabilities, that I won't delve into here, and I don't want to be treated like some special case, like you said, I didn't choose for my mind to be the way it is. But you're a person, so you'll get treated normally like everyone else does.

A 24-hour 'oops' period I think is fair. It doesn't allow people frequent shady name changes, but still allows you to correct any minor mistakes. Telling someone to double, triple, etc., check it doesn't matter if you're dyslexic. I understand you OP, truly. And sometimes you just make a typo, you're tired, distracted, maybe your keyboard input lags and doesn't register one of the letters, etc.

Things happen, and a single do-over should be allowed per name change. It would also be cool to have something like that for character creation or fantasia use, but that's less of an issue.

They implement such a thing and then someone says "it should be 48 hours" and the process all starts over again.
