All optional content is considered to be done "in the past", if you do them later than you're supposed to. The SE developers and writers LONG AGO decided to ignore any paradoxes that arise by doing content out of order, in favor of easing the creation of new content.

Probably the main obstacle to fixing the Void is all of the Void monsters we have active in the Overworld all the time, plus the fact that Void creatures are a goldmine for creating new and interesting boss fights. If we did fix the Void, it'd probably be a gradual thing. Just like fixing the First is turning out to be: when we finish the last set of Eden raids, most likely the Empty will be slowly receding, but not enough to change the First areas in any meaningful way. The message will be that the world is recovering, but will take generations to do so completely - that kind of thing.
